You can now get the 360 arcade version for 149 and that comes with a 50 dollar credit on Amazon: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I0JCOU/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER"]Amazon.com: Xbox 360 Console: Video Games@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51DtRvm%2BW9L.@@AMEPARAM@@51DtRvm%2BW9L[/ame]

So in essence it is $99. Not a bad deal considering that you can now use the usb ports for up to 16 gig of harddrive storage.

Microsoft also annouced it would partner with ESPN3.com to bring 3,500 live sporting events to the xbox each year. Bascially, you can now watch espn3.com on your tv via your XBOX. Also pretty sweet.

Are they going to get mlb.tv on it? They can pretty it up all they want, but unless they add mlb.tv to it, I will buy a ps3 if I buy a video game system.

You guys realize these are gaming systems right?

Who cares about Bluray or some website.

Buying a laptop (or desktop for that matter) with HDMI out and bluray seems much more practical than getting a gaming system with these things.

Who knows. IMO, espn3.com is a better addition than mlb.tv.

But probably more expensive by a few hundred dollars.

Why not a built in DVR?

You guys are after all these things that don't involve gaming. The next logical feature is a DVR.

Gaming is a given. These machines are angling to be your one-stop-media/entertainment-platform. Since the gaming is relatively even (let's assume for the sake of argument everyone), its the add-ons that will help most people decide which to buy.

So it would seem to me the next big addon would be a DVR. Especially if it does want to be a one-stop-media/enterainment-platform.

Okay. I'll let Microsoft and Sony know.

XBox 360's can be used as extenders for a Windows Media Center. So MS would say they already have DVR. This is what I use for TV and media in my house. I have a server with 6 tuners and 5 TB of storage. Ripped DVD's, music, TV shows, DVR, photos, etc. all streamed everywhere in the house via XBox.

This is smart. I obviously don't follow the consoles that much, but this is key I think.

If you can extend the xbox with Media Center, that opens everything up.

I believe the PS2 was not locked down. I heard of people putting linux on it, but all I've heard is that the PS3 is not modifiable without the threat of bricking it. That means all you're going to get is what they give you.

It must be obvious that I'm not a fan of apple.

Oh and if it has the Media center extension, obviously you can get mlb.tv with it.

There you go Junkie and funk.

The truth is, you can extend most everything from your PC to your PS3 as well. I have both machines connected to my PC, although I don't use the DVR function with them. I do watch most of my movies that way though (i.e. ripped to my 1TB HDD).
