I think there is something to that, at least in Texas. I have always shown up when summoned. Several years ago, I got selected for a well publicized case involving assault on a police officer while a SWAT team was serving a search and arrest warrant - flash bang style (defendant shot at the SWAT team). No sooner had the time elapsed, I got summoned again but didn't get selected. Once the time elapsed, I was summoned yet again. This time I was working crazy hours because of a project deadline and totally forget about the jury summons. I haven't been summoned since.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

Perhaps. But you raised an interesting point that was at the heart of the trial and sentencing on the case that I served on. If one is not a US citizen, one has no 2nd amendment rights to own a gun. And if a non-citizen is involved with theft and fencing stolen goods but detectives are having problems with evidence in the case, they will pursue a search and arrest warrant for what they do have evidence for - gun ownership by a non-citizen who has offered to barter said guns and verbally threatened detectives. And you are right, the guy should have hid his guns rather than storing them in a locked gun cabinet except for a .45 on his nightstand. Then, police would still be without physical evidence and the guy would still have certain, essential male body parts. I got a summons for the day that I am going to attempt to hike/jog 50 miles. They have an online form for rescheduling, so I was able to select a week in September that worked better for me.
This is too bad because we have a murder trial coming up and it would be super interesting. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will get delayed till September.Comment

Ha!! I got called in my county for the Month of July & August. Every Thursday I have to report. Sat on a case last Thursday. Poor grandma was harassing her former DIL. Found guilty of M1. I was the lone holdout for a while. Only guy on the jury. These ladies were beyond judgey and had no sympathy for the situation. I though I had them all convinced on a technicality but upon further review, it was deemed not relevant. I had hoped I had done my civic duty since I was selected for the first case and so could be done. Nope. I have to come every Thursday if there is a case to be heard.
