No, the judge sent us to the back room and said some motions were going to be filed. Then when we came back in the courtroom he said the case was dismissed based on law (I'm probably messing up the term).Originally posted by Donuthole View PostThe plaintiff put on its entire case in 3 hours? Or was this a pre-trial motion?
He came back and explained to us that the plaintiff couldn't put into evidence anything that would allow the trial to continue to proceed under the suit. I can type more when I'm not on my phone but we basically listened to 3 hours of the lady complaining about pain and injuries."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I was supposed to be on jury duty this morning. I called the automated # on friday and was told to call back this morning at 10:15 for a possible afternoon assignment. When I called, I found that my whole group was dismissed.
By the way- why are people like Donald Trump and George W. Bush getting called in for jury duty? Is this how entrenched in meaningless bureaucracy we are that we can't nip that in the bud when the name comes up?"I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Doing jury duty this morning. They just ask for folks to volunteer and serve on the grand jury for the months of July and August. It pays more... $40 a day and free parking. But you would have to be available three days a week. No one volunteered.

I found a couch in a hidden jury lounge and took a nap. Someone woke me up and said they were sending everyone left home. So I got my work "hall pass" and get the rest of the day off... I'm good for another 2.5 years."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I'm set to go in tomorrow for jury duty. I have a meeting in the late morning which I care much more about than I do jury duty, so if they don't let me out, I'm simply going to leave. That nap you're talking about is tempting, though.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI found a couch in a hidden jury lounge and took a nap. I don't know how they do it there but if you have a high number then you are less likely to be assigned to a court case. My number was nearly 800 and they didn't get higher than 250.Originally posted by falafel View PostI'm set to go in tomorrow for jury duty. I told them on the way out I would like my $6 that they are paying me in cash. The dude said he will see what he could do.
Edit: I was talking to a bailiff guy that was hanging out in the jury room. He told me that only about 1 in 4 people even show up to jury duty. So maybe you should just skip.Last edited by Uncle Ted; 04-13-2016, 10:15 AM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I have never been called in for Jury Duty in my life, while Mrs. Diddley has been served notice at least a half-dozen times.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI found a couch in a hidden jury lounge and took a nap. I received a summons for jury duty a few months ago. It was supposed to be right about now in early July. It got cancelled as part of the virus thing. I'm wondering if I'm clear for a few years now.

Like your wife I have been summons for jury duty six times. I think it is coming time again.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostLooks like another summons is coming to her in the mail today, while my streak continues.
I have started a new collection of jury duty checks. I currently have two $6 checks hanging on my wall.
