Apple Jan. 27 launch event... what will it be?

A friend of mine was in line to get an Ipad today at the Apple store in Salt Lake. He was 45th in line and he said about 200 people were there. The apple store announced they only had 150 ipads available. A guy walked up to him and said I will give you $200 for your spot in line. He said ok and switched the guy places in line, then took $50 of that and bought his way back in to the top 150.

i was out running errands and stopped at best buy. no lines and ipads lining the shelves.

they hit 600-700K if you include Sunday. It was, by all accounts, a good launch.

Where are getting your numbers from? The Reality Distortion Field? 98% of the movies are cut in Final Cut Pro? Are you kidding me??? Final Cut Pro might have more of a lock on the indie and amateur films, but in Hollywood, Avid is still a major player, if not the standard.

Look, Final Cut Pro is great because it lowered the barrier of entry for people who want NLE (non-linear editors). But it does not have 98% of the market. It's ok to be a Mac or Jobs fanboi, but don't spout incorrect numbers.

As a curriculum specialist the research we do in regards to a very large market outside of L.A. and New York specifically tells us to teach our students Final Cut.

no ipad? tooblue, how are you going to access the internet, read books and newspapers? how are you going to check your email? how are you going to do all these things one at a time because the ipad doesn't allow for multitasking?

I played around with one in the mall the other day when we were getting Faith's laptop fixed. It seems very cool, a great little gaming platform, good for internet and movies. Typing on it wasn't that bad, and with Numbers, Pages and Keynote selling as a $10 apps, you could even do some work on it. If I had a spare $500 burning a hole in my pocket, I would pick one up for sure. The thing is fun.

I have been playing around with one as well and I am getting one. The interactive kids books are great and, to me, are worth the price. The gaming and movies will make flights go a lot faster as well.

I don't think Apple is ever going to allow Flash, as that basically cedes the whole app market to Adobe, as well as giving up content control.
