Something that has only 10% market penetration isn't primed to change the world.

Incidentally, what aspects of your life has it changed? I dont like watching TV and movies on a tiny screen. I was already fairly meticulous about my music, so I don't care much about that. I do enjoy the proliferation of some of the apps (not the games and crap...but say....a Zagat app). 1st gen iPhone didn't have push email functionality, so in a sense, that would have changed my life for the worse.
Yes, and The Back Street Boys album sold more copies than the Beetles Abbey Road? So what's you point -- the masses are nincompoops?

In my industry Macs rule with a 98% market share. This site was likely designed on a Mac. The clothes you are wearing were likely designed by a Mac user ...

History is repeating itself. Apple may not come out on top but, once again it is changing the world.
What are you blathering on about? Anyone with a brain can keep their PC from becoming infested and Windows 7 is a VERY good OS as was XP. Vista was even decent if you bought enough RAM. You can still get a lot more bang for the buck with a PC than you can with a Mac. Trust me, I've had both for years.

blah blah blah... If they didnt cost 3 times that of a pc more people might get them.

Oh yeah for whoever asked the iPad will not multitask.

Frankly I think this product will end up being little more than another Newton. Apple would have been a lot smarter if they had gone after the netbook market.

Also Apple didn't invent the PC. Xerox had a computer out with a mouse driven GUI years before there was a Mac. In fact it was before the Apple II.

I don't know about that. I switched over last year, and have found the Mac user experience to be far nicer. It is all about interaction design. I don't even know how anyone could compare the buttonless trackpad on an iBook Pro to that stupid love button on an IBM. Likewise, for simple day-to-day use, the software on the Mac is cheap, effective, and easier to use. In the world of art and design, the best software comes out on the mac, and PC software chases after. The integration of the camera into all iBooks, with the very workable video chat software, all built in, easy and intuitive... geesh, it all adds up to be a better experience with better design at a slightly higher price. When you run the numbers, over the number of years that you should use a new computer, the Mac option is just a little more expensive, but not too bad.

I do not wish to enter in to a Mac vs PC debate. The days where Mac was superior for graphic design/multimedia and audio recording are long since gone. I can do anything on a PC that you can do on a Mac and I can do it just as easy.

PC's are far more cost effective for hardware. I just upgraded my PC to a quad core processor with a butload of RAM. The only things I had to purchase was a new processor, motherboard and RAM. I got all of it for under $250 because all the other parts were still good. This same machine has been upgraded twice before. You simply can't do with a Mac. You have to go drop a grundle on a new computer.

Whatever. Keep telling yourself that. I have not had a virus on my computer in over 15 years. The average life span of my Macs has been 5 years without making any upgrades except for software. My software use runs the gamut from the full Adobe suite to Final Cut Pro. Trust me, I have always gotten better bang for my buck period.

Apple invented the PC as we know it -- not some wooden box with gears pretending to be a mouse. And they are reinventing computational devices as we know them right now.

                      The Beetles? lol.

Unless your industry is total global market share, what does it matter what your industry slice may be? Your claim is that apple is changing the world, not your industry. The data doesn't come close to supporting your fanboy sales puffing.

If you wish to revise your claim that the iPhone is revolutionizing your "industry" (which is what? teaching? or design?), then maybe. But the entire world? Hardly. 9:1. The Backstreet Boys didn't outsell the Beetles 9:1.
                      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Right now I'm driving a Chevy but if we are going to use car metaphors Shaka would rather drive a Chevy Cavalier while I prefer to drive a Mercedes for roughly the same price.

My claims stand on their merits. lol ... Man, you're not very good at this. You need to go find a thread about fashion or something.

More like he's driving a Chevy Impala and you're driving a Mercedes C class. You both have leather seats and power everything, but he paid 20k and you paid 40k. Also, you get to pay more for repairs, and probably have to take it to the dealer to get the job done right.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
