I'm a bit confused about the new nanos. I liked the 5th Gen, I currently use the 5th gen for my runs, but I thought the 6th Gen was a better idea and better execution for what I use the Nano for- which is music for running or working out. What on earth did they need to stretch it out back out for? The video feature?

Agreed completely. I bought Gidget a 6th gen Nano last year for her birthday to workout with and it is awesome.

What is the point of watching a video on a screen that small? I barely have the eyes to watch a short Youtube clip on my S3.

But no worries, it is the best one ever they have made.

All in all I am kind of disappointed in the announcement today. I don't think this one has the same "meh" as the 4 to the 4S announcement, but it's not much better. Basically all the rumors we have heard were confirmed. Not much new in iOS 6 except iTunes and Maps that are still inferior to Google. The screen is nice as always. More power and probably a little better battery life. 4G and LTE is a big upgrade, but they're now just joining the club there. Not really innovative unless you consider their chip design. But end user doesn't care that they fit 2 chips into 1 or developed a new dynamic antenna. The new Lightning port is interesting. But no details on speeds. And nobody else uses it. And no iPad mini confirmation. And yet there will be lines around buildings and 50m will sell.

itouches are more acceptable to bring to church than a DS.

Our 13 year old has an itouch (that we originally bought for her sister before she got a phone). We don't think she is old enough for a phone yet, but it is something she can use as an ipod, and for games, and for scriptures at church, and for texting people, and various other things. She really likes it, and is never more than 10 feet away from it. At $199 (she doesn't need a lot of memory to play the same 30 songs over and over again), it actually isn't that much more expensive than a DS, it does more, and it is certainly a lot cheaper than paying monthly phone fees.

I guess I need to hit the pawn shop for my 6th Gen Nano before it disappears. Or wait until next year when they go back to the square after they discover the error of their ways.

I don't hate. I am an Apple user. In fact I probably have more Apple products here than many other CUFers. I was genuinely hoping for something cool today because I love technology and a big part of my job right now is RDT&E. But I was underwhelmed with the products released today.

I also don't hate Apple. I am an Apple user. I have a Macbook and probably will replace it with another Macbook. I strongly have considered an iPhone in the past, just cannot justify buying an inferior piece of hardware.

I've bought two previous iPhones with caring about the RAM or whatever.

All I know is: iPhones work. The two Android devices I had were cool for a little while, but suffered from poor worksmanship buggy apps.

Exit question: why would you prefer poorly built phones with unstable apps?
