I'd be more interested in seeing what the numbers are of users using a flagship phone like the S3 or Nexus vs iPhone. I'd be surprised if you saw the same comparative results.
The defection numbers are percentage based.

I played with 1337's iPhone5 while we were in Utah over the weekend. I didn't see anything different. The screen isn't enough bigger to notice, it is a little longer.
Has nothing to do with it being made by Apple. I own Apple products and use some Apple products. It has everything to do with it being a bad product.

If the screen isn't enough bigger to notice, I'm glad that I didn't wait to see what the iPhone5 was like prior to purchasing the GSIII.

I agree the more interesting question would be if the top end (GSIII, One X) users are planning to defect to iOS.

A lot of times we end up having mid-tier to low-tier phones being compared to the top-tier iOS device. It would be like me comparing the GSIII to the iPhone 4 instead of the 4S or 5.

Funny how defensive you Android users are.
I think you need to check the meaning of that word. I just think this "everyone else likes my phone" is a funny fallback reason that a lot of iPhone users use (and that the GS3 spot does a nice job of poking fun at).

No, I don't find the chart terribly interesting, since if you asked me the same question two months ago, I would have said I was planning on switching. I bought the GS3 very reluctantly, because 1) I needed a new phone more quickly than the iPhone was coming out and 2) I knew I could return it if I didn't like it. My last Droid was a mess and I had totally had it with Android. If a new iPhone had been available, I have no doubt that I would now be a happy iPhone convert. But like Surfah says, I do think these new phones are game changers. You need a decent impetus to switch over, and it's just not there any more.

My bad. I should not have listed them as two separate items. I think disparity in percentage should be expected given the fragmentation of Android.

            • I'll add that I think (just my opinion and don't have any stats to back this up) that a number of iPhone users remain loyal because of their investment in apps. I can get most apps I need for free from several sources on Android. I am not tied to iTunes like iPhone users are.

I agree that the new Samsung phones are fabulous. I have always maintained that intense competition is great for everyone. That is why I find these discussions interesting.

As to the bolded part, the survey would seem to indicated otherwise. The market survey is question was conducted post-iphone 5. See more detail here:

Finally, I found your pros/cons lists to be a great example of how completely subjective this can be sometimes. For example, you said nothing about camera quality, which is one of the most important advantages of the iPhone for me.

Isn't it the same camera in the two phones? I think the photo-editing capabilities of the GS3 are better, but I don't really care about that. (I do care about a decent camera, but most of the comparisons gave the edge to the GS3 for the editing capabilities, IIRC)

EDIT: Never mind...just browsing comparisons, most are giving a slight edge to the iPhone, but it's pretty slight. You're right that in the last iteration, there was a huge difference.

                  Second edit:
Here's an interesting table that illustrates your point:
                  http://versusio.com/en/apple-iphone-...sung-galaxy-s3
Even here, there's no clear winner and there's some subjectivity. It gives the size edge to iPhone because it's smaller, where I would give it to GS3 because it's bigger without feeling big. It does point out upload/download speed advantage goes to iPhone--I have noticed this to be annoyingly slow on the GS3, primarily with uploading video to youtube. It gives the CPU speed advantage to GS3, where if you look at Coach's table, it looks like it goes to iPhone in real life application. It gives the storage advantage to iPhone, which I would dispute because most of you aren't buying the 64 GB version and most of us have SD cards. Other than that, it's a pretty good and complete comparison, and illustrates why I think most will remain pleasantly in their own camp--it's a wash.
(I obviously find the comparison interesting too, apparently.)

Maybe iPhone users just really, really like the iPhone and prefer it to the GS3 regardless of the fact the GS3 has this gadget or that gizmo. Just a thought.

Of course and that is probably more likely than anything else.

                      • The new charger really is cool. Finally, a charger I can plug into the device upside down or right side up!

And it only costs $29.00 to get an adapter for all your other chargers. No wonder everyone cheered the new charger.

You keep saying this. Who needs adapters? Like the guy with a $400 phone is going to par it with a out dated accessory.

Interesting list, but I would argue that it is every bit as subjective as any other comparison as there are dozens of other items one could list (with advantages both ways).

Probably has something to do with people who have invested a lot in accessories such as car chargers, docks, extra chargers, etc.

Apple's stubborn refusal to not use micro-USB is one decision that I don't see how even the biggest Apple apologists can defend.
