LOL. You are nothing but consistent. See above, I remembered I posted about them awhile back and you balked at the price back then

Yeah, they are pricey. But I'm very happy with them.

Picked up the LG V20, which come standard with 64gb (expandable, of course). So far I am very pleased. There are some features I'll miss about my iPhone (like force touch), but none of them overcome the headphone jack issue and the dumb pricing scheme.
On Black Friday weekend, T-Mo was offering a deal to upgrade from a 6s to a 7 for free (w/ 2-year contract commitment). So the wife upgraded from her 6s to the 7 because... why not? Not sure she even notices the diff, as she only listens to music via bluetooth in her car.

I upgraded to the LG G5 at the same time. I will never leave Android for the same reason I prefer Coke Zero over Diet Coke... just personal preference. Also, no iTunes on Linux. Also, I hate iTunes.

The missus bought me Plantronics BackBeat Fit 'phones that list for $129 but my wife the welder got them for around $75 on Amazon or through Costco; can't remember. I've worn several pairs of headphones but none of them have stayed in without my wearing a geeky headband. No more. These fit perfectly and have never bounced out. The sound is good as well.

Apple CEO Tim Cook calls AirPods 'a runaway success,' promises to make more ASAP

In comments to CNBC, Cook declined to talk specifically on Apple's outlook, but he said it has been a "great holiday." He added that the company's new wireless earbuds, AirPods, are "a runaway success." When asked if more would come into stock, he said Apple's "making them just as fast as we can."

AirPods debuted at September's splashy event, but saw shipping delays through most of the fall and finally hit shelves just days before the crucial Christmas shopping rush. The limited shipments were sold quickly — ship dates are now six weeks out on Apple's website.

Did Fortune say good stuff about those trump steaks as well?...

Apple's Airpods Could Be A Bigger Business Than Apple Watch

Apple‘s wireless headphones, Airpods, went on sale earlier this week. The buzz surrounding the launch was limited, given that the product was delayed for close to two months leading to significant inventory constraints. However, we believe that there is a possibility that the Airpods could overtake Apple’s high-profile wearable product, the Apple Watch, in terms of overall revenues and profitability in the long-run. Below, we size up the revenue potential of the Airpods and compare it to the Apple Watch.

                    [...]

                    Estimating The Revenue Opportunity

While Apple is unlikely to disclose sales figures, we believe that it should be able to ship roughly 22 million Airpods in the first year, assuming an attach rate of 10% with the iPhone. We believe this figure is reasonable, as Barclays projects initial production figures at 10 to 15 million units. Assuming an ASP of $159, this would translate into revenues of roughly $3.5 billion in 2017.

In comparison, IDC estimates that Apple shipped just about 4.2 million units of the Apple Watch during the first nine months of this year. Assuming that Apple ships about 8 million units over 2017, at an ASP of around $350, it would translate to Watch revenues of ~$2.8 billion.

It is possible that margins for Airpods could be higher as well over the long-run as Apple irons out early manufacturing yield issues, given the lower component and software development-related costs compared to the Watch. This could mean that the Airpods will be more value-accretive to Apple stock compared to the Apple Watch.

22.1M units. $3.5b in revenue. That would buy a lot of trump steaks.

10% of Apple customers don't mind paying a fortune to look like huge f**king dorks? That is totally believable!

Those look hideous* but I'm glad they are selling well since I bought Apple stock a while back.

                            • LOL... The new MacBook pros with touch bars are apparently thinking for law students:

Touch Bar MacBook Pros are being banned from bar exams over predictive text

When it launched late last year, the new MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar was largely reliant on first-party applications to show off what it could do. Since then, a number of other companies have jumped on board, helping the secondary screen grow into something more than novelty.

Of course, as with any new technology, there’s going to be some unanticipated downside. Test taking software company Examsoft, for one, believes the input device could help facilitate cheating among students taking the bar exam.

What’s perhaps most interesting here, is that the company’s calling out one of Touch Bar’s more mundane features: predictive text. “By default,” the company writes, “the Touch Bar will show predictive text depending on what the student is typing, compromising exam integrity.”

It’s hard to say precisely how the company expects a standard feature on mobile devices to help students pass one of the more notoriously exam out there, but The Next Web notes that some states have already taken action. North Carolina, for one, has required test takers with the new model MacBooks to disable the Touch Bar, while New York is banning the machines altogether.

Examsoft does offer a handy method for disabling the now ironically titled Touch Bar, for those states that go the route of the former. We’ve reach out to Apple for comment.

Maybe soon a MacBook Pro will replace the need for a lawyer.
