Makes sense. I do miss AirPlay. I don't have to do a lot of conference room presentations, and I don't really play games. I also don't typically use my phone or iPad for movies.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI am giving more and more presentations in board rooms using airplay. i dont know what the android equivalent is but an Apple Tv box seems pretty standard in conference rooms these days. I like to use the mini to manipulate keynote or whatever program I am using. A phone would be too small for my tastes when doing presentations. Also I dont like watching a movie on a phone. too small. and games on phones are inferior, often by design, because the screens are too small. I will use both a tablet and a phone for the foreseeable future."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

That was kind of cool, but not nearly as cool as he thought it was. I especially liked folding up his laptop screen so he could project it on the tray table. I am trying to think of the advantage of projecting on the tray rather than just watching it on the laptop, but I haven't come up with anything yet.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostYeah, it works great on a plane...

I was impressed by the resolution of the image projected onto the other side of the fuselage wall. One advantage of using the tray table to project a movie for two hours is that you dont have to bother with food, drinks, or any other item you normally place on the tray table during the flight.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

"This is Shep Smith reporting from the Starship Enterprise."Originally posted by Surfah View PostOf course they are. Everyone wants larger screen sizes. Even those who claim the iPhone is the perfect size because it fits in their skinny jeans want a bigger screen but won't admit.
I am not sure I'd want a larger iPad. But apparently FoxNews got some demos. So ridiculous.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Obama likes the iPhone...
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-1...mport-ban.htmlSamsung Loses Bid for Obama Veto of Apple-Won Import Ban
Samsung Electronics Co. (005930) can’t import some smartphones and tablet computers into the U.S. after President Barack Obama decided not to veto a ban won by Apple Inc. (AAPL) in a patent-infringement dispute.
“After carefully weighing policy considerations, including the impact on consumers and competition, advice from agencies, and information from interested parties, I have decided to allow” the import ban, Obama’s designee, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, said in a statement today.
The Korean company asked Obama to overturn the ban ordered by the U.S. International Trade Commission on public policy grounds -- the same relief the president gave Apple in August from an order barring imports of the iPhone 4S. Samsung can now seek a delay from a U.S. appeals court.
[...]
Samsung said it was disappointed in the decision.
“It will serve only to reduce competition and limit choice for the American consumer,” Adam Yates, a spokesman for the company, said in an e-mail. Kristin Huguet, an Apple spokeswoman, said the company had no comment.

After talking to my wife last night, we might buy a couple of the iPad minis.

LOL. I don't know why you think I am an Apple hater. I own numerous Apple products and use them daily. I have stated numerous times that the best computers I have ever had were a MacBook Pro and Mac Pro. Just because I can be objective and critical about Apple products doesn't make me some hater lashing back at the fanboys. And if you have read other threads, you'd know that I have been critical of Google and Android offerings as well. A significant part of my job responsibility was testing and evaluating Apple products for my last client.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostUntil Samsung release the Note Micro. lol

That said, maybe I was a bit too harsh in my Mini was a mistake comment. I still lean that way from a business perspective. I think it cannibalized sales from their iPad. Their stock immediately dropped upon its announcement. And despite selling out initially, demand seems to have dropped (if suppliers are to be believed) and Android has caught up and passed Apple in terms of market share which Apple has dominated. Business aside, it doesn't mean it isn't a nice product. What it really did was give consumers a smaller form factor while being able to take advantage of the same ecosystem they were already invested in. However, the Apple Mini missed when the display wasn't as good as competitive makers who were also cheaper. Your argument that the 7" tablet should have been the size of the original iPad all along is probably a good one. If Jobs hadn't passed, you likely wouldn't even have a Mini. It will be interesting to see what is announced with the Mini 2 and Ipad 5. The retina screen will be a welcome addition that was sorely missed. However, I wonder if Apple will be able to retain their same price offering and if they do, I have to believe those slimming margins will get even smaller on the Mini. Also, lots of outlets are speculating that supply is short for the screens and Apple may miss a Christmas delivery. And if even bigger iPads are in the works as the article above mentioned, that would be a big mistake. I think we're seeing utility and price drive tablets down in size, which I believe is also one of the reasons that smartphones are growing in size. I wonder if Samsung isn't already ahead of this curve with their Note and the phablet (I hate that term) isn't the future."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

UPS tried to deliver my iPhone 5S yesterday but MJ was hanging out with friends at the Galleria all morning

Moli, did you get your iPhone 5S? If so, have you seen the blue screen of death yet?
http://hothardware.com/News/iPhone-5...reen-of-Death/iPhone 5S Users Reporting Blue Screen of Death
Friday, October 11, 2013 - by Paul Lilly
It's been a long time since we've seen a dreaded "blue screen of death" (BSoD), but it's back and in the in the unlikeliest of places. Oddly enough, some Apple iPhone 5S owners are reporting BSoD errors, though they're a little different from the ones you may remember seeing on Windows desktops. Rather than spit out an obscure error code with a generic description, some iPhone 5S devices are suddenly turning blue before automatically restarting.

Ha, I just came to post a review. I've had it for almost 2 days.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostMoli, did you get your iPhone 5S? If so, have you seen the blue screen of death yet?

I love the 5S. I'm getting used to the larger screen, which is a bit too tall since I have short fingers, but it's nice to have more apps on each page. The best feature is the fingerprint ID. I have my work email on the iPhone and they require that I set a password each time I log in, which is annoying at times. with the fingerprint ID I simply push the button and keep my thumb on the button and it unlocks. So far it's worked pretty much every time. So far I have 3 digits logged into the ID and it forces you to use different areas of the digit when setting it up so no matter how I'm holding the phone any angle will work. Very nice feature.
I took some slo mo video today and that was really cool. I'll post it later when I get a chance. The camera seems to be stellar and several notches above the 4S, but it's crazy to think of how far camera phones have come. Our household really doesn't have any other camera and we don't think we need one. We do have a HD camcorder still but have rarely used it.
So far everything works nicely. Setup was a breeze (just restored my backup) and the battery holds very well. I used the phone a lot yesterday and didn't charge it the night before. It lost 3% overnight and went from 80% to around 60% during the day. That included some calls, checking CS/FB and playing candy crush while duking."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
