are those flat front or single pleat? I can see both. On Bronco's left, it appears as though the pants are single pleat but his right looks like flat front.

The pic in the black pants is amazing. It is good to know that Bronco's pants have all that extra pleated space....in the event of a water landing, he can inflate his trousers as a flotation device. In the alternative, he can put his fists into his pockets and still have plenty of room to move around in there.

The tan pants are definitely pleated. Look at the rest of the coaches if you can't tell from Bronco's action pic.

I just want to note that I don't own a single pair of stand-alone slacks that have pleats.

But, all of my suits have a single pleat in the pants. I especially avoided the Mr. Mac three pleat specials the last time I bought a suit, but it still seems like most suits include pants with at least a single pleat (the single pleat turns into the crease on the front of each leg). This was the case with the suits I was checking out last February at the Barney's warehouse sale.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

this is correct, although you can find flat front suits, no prob.

There is no excuse for pleats in slacks. They make big guys like even heavier and they make thin guys look even skinnier. Sorry, just being honest!

Finding suits without pleated pants is difficult. I've had a few places offer to have the pants tailored to remove the pleats, but the added price ($40) coupled with my fear that they just wouldn't look right has discouraged me from taking that option thus far.

I have a Kenneth Cole suit with flat pants, but the rest of mine have a single pleat.

The problem that I saw with the no-pleat suit pants is that most of the time the whole suit was little too contemporary in either the tailoring or the fabric. I can't wear Italian suits because my shoulders and chest are too big for my waist (well, they used to be) and I'd have to wear a 44 which came with 38 inch pants. You can't alter 38 inch pants down to a 32-33 inch waist and hope they look okay. So I have to get American-made suits so I can get a 42 which comes with 36 inch pants. The problem that I've often seen with suits that come with a flat front, is that the coats are too small on top- they're like European suits.

But back to the original thread hijack- pleated slacks have been out for over a decade. I got back from my mission in August 1998 and I haven't bought a single pair of pleated slacks in that time. In fact, I'm beginning to think that pleated slacks have been out for so long that they just might come back before some people ever stopped wearing them.

                Wow this thread is gay.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

beefytee's entirely innocent question has been hijacked into a discussion on how to be more homosexual.

Sorry, beefytee, but that's the risk you run here.

                  I appreciate your concern.

Sadly, I've become all too familiar with the risks of starting a thread and having it hijacked by comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the initial post.

Go to The Buckle and drop $25-30 on a good leather belt. They'll have a good selection of belts that will last you another 15 years.

Dammit! Will you please use the appropriate emoticon if you are being sarcastic or TIC? In these fashion threads I never know if you guys are being serious or joking around.

What if I had gone out and bought a faux (or real) silver tipped belt on your initial recommendation, only to find out a few posts later that you were actually mocking the look?

Take a moment and consider other people's first impressions before you hit the "Submit" button. It doesn't take that long. Thanks.

I also strongly believe in multiple belts of varying shades. Also, having multiple belts of different widths is critical because some belts are too wide to fit into slacks and suits pants, which tend to have smaller belt loops.

One of my favorite belts is actually a blue belt with metal rivets for loops. Each girth adjustment is a row of 3 metal-rivet loops. It is a nightmare at airport security but I love wearing it.

Not a big fan of the mesh/woven belt resurgence, although I do have one (with "seat belt" belt buckle!).
Woven leather belts are terrible and should be banished completely from North America.

Belt pet peeve: when the belt is the wrong size and the end hangs out of the last loop. Looks very sloppy.
Me too. We could be twinners at the next CUF get-together.

I have a black leather Nike Belt that I bought from TJ Maxx. This is a true story, the first time I met DDD (It was at the Pita Pita thanks for the great selection Aussie Coug ) I usually keep a belt, pair of dress socks, tie and dress shoes in my office for quick changes after golf, the gym, etc. So I show up to work and did not have a belt. I was frantic knowing that a meeting with the infamous DDD was on the horizon, so I ran to TJ Maxx and found a sweet black leather Nike Belt just for the occasion. I hope he liked it.

If you're wearing these belts in 15 years, you will be woefully out of style. If you're wearing these belts tomorrow, same result.

These belts seem pretty tame to me. Not sure if I am a big fan of the brushed nickel belt buckle on Belt #1, but other than that, I have a feeling these belts will be around for a long time.

Belt #2: i like multiple holes (not THAT way, sickos!) but I don't like the two belt loops. one is plenty.

Belt #3: don't like the dark colored buckle.
