    Finding a good belt

I bought a good leather brown belt back in 1994 that lasted me until last year.

I got a new belt, but it hasn't lasted long. Basically it had come unglued and now is in 2 pieces.

Can any fasionistas out there tell me what I need to look for to find a belt that lasts.

I imagine Cowboy and landpoke probably know a thing or 2 about quality leather products. I would love your insight.

I bought a leather belt at Wal-mart in '99 that I still rock to this day. It's a simple brown belt, stamped with some pattern with a removable buckle. I know they still carry it too.

I think you already know. Don't buy one that's glued together in two pieces. Find a belt that's a single strip of leather.

Also, get one with a faux-silver tip, those are pretty cool.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

What cowboy and I do or don't do behind closed doors is nobody's business.

Filson makes a nice belt. I would catagorize it more as a business casual type belt, but it will last forever.

          A few things:

          1. Don't wear the same belt for years and years. Belts gets worn out and then don't look as nice. Good rule of thumb....take your belt off and hold it up, look at it. If it is all bowed out and bent/stretched in certain areas, time to get a new belt. If the leather is totally worn and flimsy, time to get a new belt.

          2. Buy straps and switch up the belt buckles. Generic belts that do not have snaps are not as versatile because you are stuck with the same buckle for the duration of the belt.

          3. Wear the right buckle with the right clothes. It is cool if you want to have a Nintendo Controller belt buckle...but don't wear it with a shirt and tie to your friend's wedding.

          4. If you find yourself wanting to drive a nail through your belt to create a new girth setting, just go buy a new belt, please.

          5. Buy a black belt. And buy a brown belt. Put your belt on AFTER you put your dress shoes on. Verify the color of your shoes. Then proceed to wear the belt that most closely matches the color of your shoes. I can't stress this enough, guys. I know this is a hard rule for some to follow, but please give it your best efforts.
          Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have two black belts (one casual and one dressy) and 4 different shades of brown belts (two casual, two dress). I'm metro like that.

We should have an advanced belt thread.

I also strongly believe in multiple belts of varying shades. Also, having multiple belts of different widths is critical because some belts are too wide to fit into slacks and suits pants, which tend to have smaller belt loops.

One of my favorite belts is actually a blue belt with metal rivets for loops. Each girth adjustment is a row of 3 metal-rivet loops. It is a nightmare at airport security but I love wearing it.

Not a big fan of the mesh/woven belt resurgence, although I do have one (with "seat belt" belt buckle!).

Woven leather belts are terrible and should be banished completely from North America.

Belt pet peeve: when the belt is the wrong size and the end hangs out of the last loop. Looks very sloppy.

It's true, far too many don't realize that if you're a 34 waist, you'll probably need a 36 belt (and possibly a 38). It doesn't mean you're fat! It means you're interested in having a belt that fits properly!

My favorite belt right now is my white leather belt, which looks particularly fetching when I wear it with dark jeans w/white stitching and white loafers.

If possible, also get a belt that has a lizard skin pattern branded onto the leather.

Glad to see BM following my advice on the faux-silver tip. He's obviously been shopping at Chess King.

Folks, look no further than the pic of Bronco. All of you people that insist on wearing pleated pants are insane. They serve no purpose other than to help you achieve your goal of looking ridiculous.

Cuffed slacks with tennis shoes. lol. No pleats/cuff with tennis shoes is pretty bad, but apparently not bad enough for some.

Is that Kafusi behind him rocking the same belt? Those could be Nike-supplied belts and the coaches are under contract to wear them.

EDIT: It looks like Tidwell is also wearing the Nike belt in the first picture, but it's unclear.
