So it's probably time for some new wheels. I've driven my 2004 Toyota Matrix since Mrs. D became a minivanist back in 2009. It is a good, reliable car. It gets above average gas mileage. I honestly have very few complaints about it, other than the fact that the AC doesn't get as cold as I would prefer. But that usually only matters when I have to park it in the sun somewhere, which is rare. Still, it's probably time for an upgrade.
A sedan is definitely the most practical for me right now. I really like my co-worker's Hyundai Genesis, but I just don't think I can bring myself to spend 50 grand on any car, let alone a Hyundai. I really like a certain CSer's Audi A8 and another CSer's A6, but I don't really love how expensive the maintenance is for a fine German automobile. Am I way off base on this? kc almost has me convinced to go the used BMW route, but a BMW or a Benz is a little too stereotypical for my profession. And, again, German. I'm not really a fan of fusnik's Oldsmobile Tornado, but I'm happy that he's happy with it.
As far as budget goes, i'm probably looking at something around 28-33k, not including taxes. I'd prefer to stay closer to 28 to keep the payment in a more manageable range. Any suggestions as to what makes/models in that range? I'm not a huge fan of buying new, but I'm not completely against it. I've been looking a bit at new Lexus ES 350 (grandpa car, I've been told) and with available incentives, I think I could get a new one for around 30-31.
