At the time that issue came up several weeks ago I thought it was not possible but I was convinced that it was. I remained skeptical. I thought we could delete a thread starter but only before xomeon else posted in it. Theproblem is that the board looks a little different as a mod than it does as a non-mod, so I am never too sure about these things. To my knowledge, however, we did not change it, unless Lebowski is playing a big birthday prnak on us here.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I'm right here! Would you two please stop talking about me like I were not here?Originally posted by Babs View Postwell, if I wanted to get rid of him, I'd probably send him searching for the golden fleece instead. On the offchance he actually found it, I'd demand an equal share of the profits.

It definitely was possible. In thread tools, there was an option to edit or delete (not sure which) thread. Now it is gone. And nobody remembers changing it.Originally posted by creekster View PostAt the time that issue came up several weeks ago I thought it was not possible but I was convinced that it was. Since we all agree that it was on as recently as two weeks ago, and since nobody remembers changing it, then can we please change it back? I am sure it was not unilaterally changed without any discussion, so there should be no problem changing it back.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Yes! Those are amazing. Everyone loves them and when they are done, everyone is disappointed that it didn't last forever. I totally know what you are talking about!Originally posted by Babs View Postyou know those little crackle balls at the fourth of july that are really exciting for a few minutes, but then they fizzle out and leave you disappointed?Fitter. WHy do you want it back? It is my feeling, as Lebowski also said, that threads belong to no one; only your own posts belong to you. Delete your own post and if you need help with osmetign else, ask a mod. But otherwise i dont' see why a thread starter should be able to delete post sbyother persons simply because the thread starter wants to delete his own post.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt definitely was possible. first things first. The functionality was there. Now it is gone. Nobody claims to have changed it. Why?Originally posted by creekster View PostWHy do you want it back? Second issue is simply a matter of opinion. If we are going to change a board policy as a matter of opinion, perhaps we should discuss it first.
I have several reasons why I feel like I should have the right to delete my own threads but I can also see your rationale.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

First, I was unaware of the functionality and have always opposed to it, as I explained. If I had known it was possible I would have tried to change it immediately.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postfirst things first. The functionality was there. Now it is gone. Second, it is not a board policy, it was a function of the software. The board POLICY, as lebowski explained, is that you can only delete your own post, not an entire thread, so the POLICY has NOT changed, although perhaps the function has disappeared. If it has disappeared, the function is now in line with policy.
That being said, I am sure everyone on the committee would be more than willing to consider your request that it be allowed if there is some reason for it. I personally find a strong reason in favor of the policy I described, but would like to hear why you see it otherwise.PLesa excuse the tpyos.
