I used to... When I finally realized I was spending a lot of time, money, and energy to frustrate myself... I quit and never looked back.

Yes, they are. The picture was taken at my campground in Sturgis, South Dakota. The motorcycle rally they have there is a seriously good time... it's not for those with delicate sensibilities.

The more I look around this site, the more I am impressed with the thought provoking and enlightened people that post here.

This place appears to be well stocked with graduate degree types.

I don't know why... but this surprised me on a LDS college sports format.

I feel... almost bad, in representing myself as I have here so far.

It is a routine I easily fall into around other LDS people. Mostly because of the signals I catch from many of them.

I was born and raised LDS, but drifted away from the church around the time girls first came into the picture, around 16.

My choices over the next years of my life took me far away from what I had been taught as a child... and many of my experiences are not the kinds of exposures that other Mormons I know can relate to.

Coming back to this religion has been difficult for me. There are significant reasons why I have continued to try.

I wasn't prepared to speak to any of this when I signed up here... I can't believe that I have even done so now. I have found threads here about subjects I haven't discussed with others... except those closest to me.

The thing is... I am not a bad man. Hell, I've been a little league football coach for the last 7 years.

There are plenty of us that have been lost and found. And found and lost. And some of us aren't sure. And there are significant reasons why some of us try, and why some of us don't, but the one thing that ties us together is that we've made this into a place where we usually support each other in our being lost or being found, our trying or not trying, and we have allowed our differences, for the most part, to be educational to one another instead of divisive. I almost got my ass kicked once by about 20 marines in Tijuana at Club Safari. I was gripping onto a chair and ready to break it across someone's face. It was one of the few times in my life where I thought I might die (bartenders jumped over the bar with baseball bats and the club emptied into the bar in a gigantic circle around me and two friends). Anyway, they were drunk, not too bright and not supposed to be there and my quick thinking buddy eventually convinced them we were cool because he was a devildog too. They said they don't mess with their own, we had peace shots (not me, I was just there to dance ), and then I left before they decided they wanted to be the shit out of me anyway.
