I'm at a noisy park right now it is effecting my concentration. I can't come up with a witty reply about Tebow not sharing due his much documented virginity (didn't Brittany Spears protest too much back in the day too?). I need help with a clever retort.Originally posted by Babs View Posthe's learning from Tebow.

I'm going to pretend you didn't compare a football team with one ofthe greatest defenses in NFL history to BYU. Either you didn't think before you opened your mouth or you are dumber than I give you credit for. Care to tell me which it is?Originally posted by JohnnyLingo View PostI'm talking ability, not win-loss record. Football is a team sport, anyway. Trent Dilfer won a Superbowl.

Lingo, do you sit around trying to think up ways to further prove what an idiot you are? Or are you just really that clueless?"It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."

For the life of me I cannot understand the Hall vs. Beck debates. John Beck was a good quarterback. Max Hall is a good quarterback. There are several schools, including BCS schools that would have been very happy to have either of them.
Max Hall was a very good on saturday. That last drive (including the fact that he called his own plays--WOW!) was just awesome. He was also nails on third down. But he wasn't the MVP, the defense was.
And if they aren't above criticism or concern:

I don't see why Hall should be. Lighten up a bit.

Horrible timing for this thread. Max Hall just took the team on his shoulders to engineer IMHO the greatest single drive in BYU history.
I get where Lingo's coming from.
Let's say there are four characteristics for a QB: arm strength, intelligence, accuracy, and all the things Indy loves to refer to as IT (leadership, determination, clutch play, guts). Max lacks the arm strength but has the other three in spades. But if you had to grant only three of those to your college QB, I'd choose the smarts, the accuracy, and the IT over the arm strength. He's a very good college QB, but he is limited somewhat to what he can do. He can't throw the deep balls very well and relies on perfect timing to connect on the fly route, the deep out or deep comeback route. The problem we had last year was that you can get away with floating stuff against the crap teams of the MWC and then you play TCU, Utah, and AZ and their secondaries close out on those long balls fast.
Personally I think it was a bit of a miracle we beat OK without a running game or a deep passing game, but you can credit Hall for making it happen.
