I think BYu called more blitzes this game than the entire 2nd half of last year.
"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

Hall has certainly been that way, but that final drive was a thing of beauty and may mark the beginning of Hall II
Huge plays. When Hall was running off the field before the half, you could hear him screaming "We're gonna win! We're gonna win!" And despite losing the turnover battle by 2, he made the plays he needed to and got it done.

As OU looked like they might win at the end with a FG, I'm embarrassed to admit that one of the thoughts that crossed my mind was that exUte was already starting to bray about the kicking game costing us. BYU's last kickoff was inexcusable, but I'm kicking in some extra fast offerings (I'll probably double my contribution to $2) tomorrow that it proved not to matter.

Agreed. I don't think they went to either of them enough and Chambers fumble was brutal, but he and Jacobsen are both much better than Reed and eventually could come close to Collie.

How sad is it that I had the same thoughts. I think out of respect for the board, CougJunkie and I will not post the text messages we exchanged.

It's inconceivable that BYU won this game with a -2 turnover margin. You almost never win games against anyone with that kind of margin let alone OU. BYU could have won this game by ten or more points without a couple of those turnovers.

The secondary was a lot better, the linebackers were a lot better. The o-line pleasantly surprised me but there's obviously some work to be done there as the year goes on.

Can't wait for the Florida State game.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

If he keeps with his recent trend of interviewing non-BCS coaches after huge wins, we should be enjoying a nice interview of Bronco on Rome's show Monday.

Agreed on all points except for the last one. I'm ready for Tulane next week first.

The only blight aside from penalties and turnovers (I'll chalk most of that up to first game, big game jitters - OU was just as bad) was special teams. Jacobsen on the muffed punt was horrible. Stephenson punted well. Actually he punted great. His 1 yard line punt was critical. But Payne sucks. He nearly cost us the game twice. Coverage on punts and kickoffs was good though.

Punting game- great. Kicking game- not so great. BYU's going to be in some close games with FSU, TCU and Utah and the kicking game has to improve. Kicking the ball out of bounds in that situation was inexcusable.

I can't believe it. I am still in shock. The D was incredible.

I thought Rich was outstanding. I believed he also forced another fumble that OU recovered.

4th and 14 with a back-up QB is a tall order, but there was no effing way that guy was making a 54 yard FG. Terrible call right there by Stoops. We'll never know what would have happened had they gone, but as soon as Stoops made that decision, the game was over.

Were there any BYU injuries of significance? I don't recall any.
