I seen this on Cougarboard. I wonder if it was a misprint in the Vanquish article and he plans to serve two years. The anticipation is twenty four months. No one gets revelation to go home early. Could of been misprint. Vaughan J. Featherstone told of sister missionary that got burning in bosom to come home after 11 months. Then went on to say it won’t happen. 5-Star Quarterback Ryder Lyons Commits to BYU
BYU lands arguably the biggest recruit in program history.
How do you serve a mission for just one year...?
Edit: I also read that he plans on graduating HS early and starting his mission in January 2026, but that still means that he doesn't come home until January 2028, right? Everything else that I'm reading is saying that he's planning on being available for the college 2027 season...
People do come home early for a variety of reasons. However won’t get revelation too.

I'm very happy to see active support for BYU athletics from members of the BOT, whomever they may be.Originally posted by Green Monstah View Post
Not me. Bednar is kinda creepy.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Wasn't Jake Heaps ranked higher in his graduating class of QBs? I think that would make him the biggest recruit in program history.Originally posted by byufan4ever View Posthttps://www.vanquishthefoe.com/2025/...all-recruiting

LOL! So, if you are important enough, you get special privileges. I understand that this is how the world works... but the Church?? So the average kid is told that it is a "commandment for him to sacrifice 2-years of life for a mission..... unless he is an athletic powerhouse, then you can choose a one-year mission to some resort destination and we'll pay you $millions$ to go to BYU!!!!" that kinda seems, like, god is respecter of persons???Originally posted by BigPiney View Post
you go on a mission. after a year, you go home. Letting everyone know ahead of time, they can plan for it and manage it.
Also, I am sure that mr. " I am too important for a 2-year mission" is going to be an awesome guy in the locker room, or does he get a private locker room?? LOL! Good luck! Might be awesome for BYU... might not...?

Easy there big fella you are talking about the son of Clarissa from Mr. Kruegar's Christmas! Sister Lyon's cherubic 6 year old face, and generous alms of her wool gloves to a poor old Jimmy Stewart, did the kingdom more than enough good to compensate for Elder Lyons only sickle thrusting for 365 days.Originally posted by wally View Post

College football is an institution of mammon and the BYU is now playing by mammons rules! DEAL WITH IT!Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

These types of reactions from Ute fans makes it worth it regardless of how productive he ends up being for BYU. Thanks!Originally posted by wally View Post

I'm at a family reunion with my Ute BIL who was always very eager to talk about the rivalry disparity during the losing streak and independence. Now it's all complaints about BYU buying players and oh by the way the holding call was bogus and that's the only reason BYU won again. I just told him he sounds like a BYU fan from 2015 and that after the 5th loss in a row it will get easier because he will be more numb.

LOL! You guys can't expect me to sit around and let you enjoy your successes! If I didn't make these types of comments, I would like to think the EQ president for CS would arrange a "well-check" on me for fear I had keeled over.
also.... you know you are all thinking the things I am saying in the backs of your minds. Maybe indulgences are coming back for VIPs? If one can afford it, perhaps one can buy "good for life" temple recommend? Maybe, instead of a "beard card" BYU can issue a "Fornication card?" IT IS A SLIPPERY SLOPE AFTER ALL!!!

LOLOLOL I am dealing with it.... by farting on your sofa, and going #2 in your bathroom here. That is my style, and that is all I need to stabilize my delicate Utah ego.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View Post
