If this is the big time recruit Doofus and Linton were mentioning, they deserve to be sucker punched.

I'm guessing that someone at some point took Spencer aside and gently suggested that maybe he should never ever discuss a not-yet-signed recruit again.

      • Raider Demuni gets home from his mission, and is greeted at the airport by the new DC and a big banner with a picture of Raider wearing BYU blue.

CBers and even Tom Holmoe are applauding.

I absolutely hate that. Arriving at your home airport at the end of your mission is one of life's most sacred moments. It should be reserved to family.

I get that there are sharks in the water hoping to get him to transfer out. (One picture even has Spencer Fano, recent Utah commit, in the background.) And I know Utah coaches have greeted players, especially transfer-sensitive ones, at the airport. Maybe this is just the way the world works now. But I don't have to like it.

          Agreed.

Thank you. This place can be so toxic. Sometimes like a cult. If he transferred from BYU, it must mean he's crappy and desperate. He was the 109th ranked recruit in the nation in 2019. Maybe he was looking for an upgrade. (He shouldn't have gone on a mission.)
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I still believe Linton was referring to shoring up the commitment of Esera....

              • Honestly, I have never thought of returning from a mission as sacred. I was just excited to get back to normal life. Friends and family had posters and clapped and cheered. It was great.

Maybe sacred isn't the best word. A deeply personal moment best shared with your family.

You all know what I mean. It's up there with Christmas morning. It's certainly no place for a recruiting battle.

I don’t. Honestly. Must be a Utah culture thing.

                        • I, for one, was grateful that the recruiters didn't interrupt my time with my family at the airport, or any other time, really.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Likely means Kuithe is coming back. No room in the inn.
