If I were in High School and had an offer and commitment to go play for BYU, and was then told I had an offer no more, I'd be devastated. Hopefully it wasn't a pulled offer so much as seeing other big names with whom he'd have to compete for playing time and reading the tea leaves.

I believe it was more of the latter.

He got an offer from Boise a couple of days ago. He will have some good options.

No Gentry. He'll go to Michigan.

Booo. Right after returning from his mission trip and everything.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

So I guess Harbaugh visited this kid WHILE STILL ON HIS MISSION!

What kind of mission president would allow this? Why would the kid agree to this? Why would the parents allow this?

Horrible precedent. I hope the church drops the hammer.

I felt like there was always a little leeway for preparing for post-mission life. You could take time to register for classes, etc. This goes a bit beyond that, obviously.

Drops the hammer on what/who? This hurts nothing.

Kids mission is coming to a close and he is looking out for post mission stuff. This is no different than talking to admissions/department folks when trying to figure out what program they are trying to get into post mission.

Drop the hammer? What are they going to do...pull the kids TR?

Maybe he was one of those extra-devout guys who kept dressing as a missionary until he went into the high council.

The kid isn't even home yet!

Is it open season now for recruiting missionaries who are athletes? Do you seriously see no problem with that?

Boy, could you imagine the uproar if BYU coaches started visiting recruits on missions? Or Utah coaches?

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that pic. If that had been Kalani standing there, we would be in the middle of the biggest Twitter storm ever right now.

(And in fairness, exactly the same if it were Kyle, but from different people)
