  • In a billion different dimensions - UW kicked our asses in every single game.

    That's sad.

    • Not the game I had hoped for, but we escaped the first four games at 2-2. Not too bad. Still love this team and see good things the rest of the way.

I want to laugh, but I think you're absolutely right.

The got 14 points from a punt return and a fumble six. We had a face mask that negated a 4th and long (basically another turnover). We moved the ball well all day, we just had trouble finishing drives. Also lots of dropped passes on perfectly thrown balls with wide open receivers. If you can't imagine any dimension where that game would have been much closer, you have a very poor imagination.

You're right - there's got to be a few hundred in a billion where we won. Thank's for helping me be less sad.

                You're the best Lebowski!

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Given my football IQ is low, I just can't get my head around what ails this team. Without question, the offensive production is just not good. Is it a scheme issue? An execution issue? Strictly a talent issue? Has this team been in the top 30 in offensive production since Max Hall?

Above all else, it was sloppy. Blown assignments. Dumb penalties. Dropped passes. Receivers literally falling down. A missed PAT.

That was a good team we played. We needed our best effort to hang in there. We sure didn’t get it.

We went for what, 360 yards yesterday? That is not good, but considering that it was the best defense we will see all year and production against P5 defenses is much better than last year (and waaaaay better than the detmer years), I still think we are trending in the right direction. Without some boneheaded mistakes and costly fumbles, we probably go mid 400 yards and 30 points and feel a lot different today about the offense.

                          • The primary reasons we lost in such an awful way:

                            1) Dumb penalties and turnovers. The fumble 6 was unfortunate, but it wasn’t a dumb play. Just a bad break. Extending a Wash. drive twice with 3rd down face mask penalties was dumb. Fumbling the ball on the first drive of the 2nd half trying to get another yard or two was the dagger. The Reno Mahe special.

                            2) Too much schadenfreude over Utah’s loss on Friday night. I’m as guilty as anyone in this one.

                            3) Joe Public. Dude steps in out of the blue and gives us the thread title of the decade, only to ghost us a week later. The football gods were not happy.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Totally agree about the penalties — those were killers.

And if you watch the NFL those guys are rarely risking a turnover or injury to fight for one more meaningless yard. Just go down or go out of bounds unless you need that extra yard to maintain possession or score a TD.

                                Pretty much, yes.
