Make no mistake, the people he is primarily trying to troll are BYU fans.

I was a good son. Is that so bad? You of all people should not ridicule someone for being a good son. There are many good sons here, bear in mind.

Bronco as misanthrope. That's a new one. maybe he does have some substance. I'll have to think about that one.

All you have to do is attend one of his Cougar Club luncheons. He doesn't suffer fools and he doesn't mind taking jabs at them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Murphy attended BYU in the offseason. BYU was where he met his wife. Also shortly after Murphy converted he was considering going on a mission to the point where Ted Turner called the COB to find out what was going on. Eventually Paul H. Dunn convinced Dale he could be a bigger asset to the church being a Major Leaguer rather than a run of the mill missionary.

The most similar coach to Bronco from any Ute or Cougar coach is Rick Majerus.

They are very similar in their approaches to coaching. Both dislike fans. Both hate the whole recruiting process. Both win a lot. Both set off the rival fanbase by breathing. Both hate the press, well Rick liked the national press and it liked Rick while the national press doesn't know Bronco exists much. Both win alot and do more with what they got than most others. Both focus upon execution and subordinate individuals to the team - and fans think perhaps to the point of it being detrimental.

                        What about relationships with players?

Apparently there were plenty of players that loved Majerus and plenty that hated him.

I think it's too early to judge Bronco, but I doubt he will have as many players hate him (per capita).

Majerus was definitely polarizing. I am good friends with Larry Cain and he still worships the ground majerus walks on. It also helps that majerus still calls him about evey 9-12 months to check on how he is doing.
"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

I think Bronco has better interpersonal skills than Rick. Well, perhaps not so much as interpersonal skills as much as common habits/goals with his players that puts him on more stable relationship grounds from the get go. I think Majerus, similar to many geniuses, was totally consumed with his passion- basketball. I think Mendenhall's religious views lead to having more pursuits that he really cares about. That probably translates into what you allude to. I also think that basketball coaches and players know each other better so that will tend to the result you describe with Majerus. Head college football coaches only probably get to know key team leaders as well as hoops coaches get to know all their players. I would think that if one isolated the key team leaders from Majerus' teams one would find a similar percentage love Rick as key team leaders from BYU loving Bronco.

How long, then, until Bronco compares his team to a ski team?

Additionally, does Bronco also want a date with Cindy Crawford?
