in his fourth start as a second year player (the bears game) he put up a near perfect rating. but again, careful not to judge a rookie too harshly - a lot of guys make a leap in their second year.
Chicago was depleted on defense, so we will have to wait and see how he performs against better competition. Past performance suggests it will not go well.

Saleh did what he had to do to appease the locker room, but that is a delicate dance. Problem is, can he really go back to Zach when the going gets tough against Minnesota and Buffalo—two legitimate Super Bowl contenders—especially if White appears to be just good enough but ultimately falls short?

I think Zach is done in New York—the situation doesn't seem salvageable and most of the blame rests with Zach. But Saleh didn't do himself any favours.

White's been on practice squads or backups since 2018. He may have been taken out of cold storage and dusted off for last year, but he's no fresh-from-the-Combine rookie.

Didn't get to see the whole game, but from what I saw and based on the results ... Yup

Jets line were wearing Mike White t shirts. May have lost the locker room.

Zach has definitely lost the locker room. That is on him and his poor play and lack of maturity. But I think the locker room could now be a bigger problem for Saleh. White showed he is at his ceiling today.

Irrespective of whether it was the right move or the wrong move for the team/franchise, Zach is done in NYC, absent an injury to the White Lotus.

TBD whether he’s more Geno Smith or Drew Lock, but I think it’s safe to say he’s no Burrow/Herbert/Tua. And he’s probably a full tier below Lance and Fields, because they can at least use their legs.

Yep, he is done in NY. The Jets have looked much better for two straight weeks and the biggest difference has been the play of White. The fact that they let White throw the ball 52 times tells you all you need to know about what they think about him versus Zach. He will probably get another shot somewhere, and right now he needs to be figuring out how to avoid becoming a less liked Baker Mayfield.

How much did Zach throw against the patriots the first time? I thought a lot.

                    41. More than I remembered but not 57 (it was 57 not 52)

As I said in previous posts, I think he is done in New York. The situation does not seem salvageable. Problem is, Mike White showed his ceiling last week. Same thing is going to happen this week—he will play just good enough, but ultimately come up short. That puts the coaching staff in a quandary. Do they stick with White and squander their chances at making the playoffs, or go back to Wilson? This could end up being an even more miserable situation for Wilson.

I don't know if Zach Wilson will be a starter again in the NFL. The talent is there but maybe not the temperament. What is clear is his best chances at salvaging his career are not in New York.

And then there is Purdy in San Francisco being the Zach we all wanted.

i wanted Zach in sf. But really happy with what I have seen on the field the last two weeks.

Yesterday's game was immensely entertaining for several reasons. The broadcast opened with quotes from Brady about how as a Bay Area kid he loved the Niners, Joe Montana, and Steve Young, and how there were 150 Brady friends and family to witness what will almost certainly be his last game in the Bay Area, and then Purdy played more like Brady than did Brady. I loved the occasional cuts to Purdy's family who were rejoicing throughout the game. After what I think was Purdy's third touchdown, his dad was looking off to the side, wiping away tears. Imagine your kid stepping onto the NFL scene like that. Among other things, Purdy is the first Mr. Irrelevant to throw a TD pass.

I may just have my blue goggles on, but I'm a firm believer that Zach can be a starter in the NFL, and a good one at that.

His growth from freshman to junior years was immense. He has a good work ethic. He loves to watch film and prepare.

His Achilles heel is decision-making under duress. Not a shocker, it's basically true of every QB. However, Zach gets especially scatter-brained. With additional preparation and without the pressure of being "the man," I think ZW can pull a Steve Young-like turn-around (I'm not saying he's a future HOFer, but I can definitely see Zach performing well in the future).

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Zach was named the starter against the Lions Sunday. Strikes me as a no-win situation. If he plays well, it's because the Lions D isn't very good, they normally play in a dome, and the weather was the difference. If he plays poorly, there will be a never ending chorus crying out for the folk hero Mike White, followed by laments of what could've been despite the fact White plainly could not get it done the past two weeks.

                                IT'S A TRAP!
