From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in Provo now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saturday.
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
Your assertion of refraining was unqualified. Your attempt at deception can mean only that your claimed respect was feigned.

It qualified itself. Out of respect from Houston I avoided a prediction in this contest last week (even though I KNEW BYU was toast). Totally classy move. But, that didn't stop me from talking with people before the game and offering my pinpoint accurate predictions.
Same with this scenario. I will not share with you good people my prediction for I am afraid that it would upset some dear friends. That doesn't preclude me from making predictions elsewhere in the internet or IRL.
You are the one who brought my strikingly accurate prediction to this board. Shame on you!

So in a world where everything you write or say is omnipresent, your defense is, I won't say it loudly, just over there, pretending we won't hear it. Oh so noble of you.

He watched the game last week. Other than Bushman I didn't see much to get excited about.
So you believe intestinal fortitude only applies to matters of inspiration that have a firm foundation?

What does optimism and courage have to do with a score prediction? I have no ability to affect the outcome, so intestinal fortitude plays no part in arriving at a prediction, and optimistic or not, the fact remains that 1) we are really struggling offensively, and 2) Utah has consistently played better and BYU worse than their respective showings in other games during the last few meetings between the teams. I will be ecstatic if I'm wrong, but we aren't looking so hot and this is a prediction contest, not a 'show how much you support your team even if said support is irrational' contest.
