We'll Lansing and We'll Shout: BYU vs. Michigan State

We play LSU in Houston next year. I'm seriously considering going to the first three games next year. Utah is a given, and it would be a shame to miss Wisconsin coming to town just a week later. I may have to work from SLC that week. What will probably prevent the trifecta is the LSU game is on my wedding anniversary.

I assume since Tanner will be at QB it will be can't-miss football as we run the table!

MSU fans were, on the whole, great hosts. They cheered for their team and didn't try to intimidate opposing fans. They even chatted us up in a friendly way. They were miles ahead of fans from Utah, USU, Wyoming, AZ, UNLV, BSU, and NM that I've encountered over the years. Even when the game went south for them, they remained polite to visiting fans.

The MSU students were an exception to this, though. There were way too many drunk students wandering around; MSU administration can't be happy about it. On the way into the game, one drunken MSU student shouted at my wife, "That lady there is a Mormon!" On the way out of the game, another drunken, boorish student tried to tell me about Matt Stone & Trey Parker and all of that. I was giving him the brush off while not provoking him, but a very observant MSU fan intervened to talk with me about the game, his hopes for the season, and how glad he was to have us visit his school. A classy guy.

Even at Nebraska (a place that fancies itself as a haven for opposing fans), I had some jackass who was out of control. The best is when he accused Ryker Mathews (a non-mission kid) of being a "effing 30 year-old grown man." I didn't have the heart to tell him that Ryker simply had early-onset male pattern baldness. This dude started to scare my kid, so I turned around and said, "Classy." His wife gave him the business, and we had a great rest of the game.

Wisconsin was a nightmare. I was sitting by some half-drunken asshole who was trying his best to get his face kicked in by a mild-mannered Mormon. It was working, too, until I noticed his 9-year old son sitting right by him! WTF.

I finally got to watch Saturday's game last night. Um...anyone criticizing Taysom for that effort is nuts. The guy was ballin despite having lost a step. He stood in the pocket and ran when he needed to. Jamaal was great but IMO Taysom and Detmer won that game.

Also, I don't know if Datonio calls the plays or not but if not, how does the OC at MSU still have a job after last week? That qb is terrible, granted, but that was just awful play calling, even when they switched out.

I was reviewing my pictures from the game, and one thing that is interesting is that the stadium doesn't have permanent lighting. They brought in light trailers. I did a google search and found that they're getting lights installed before next season. Apparently they've only ever played 12 night games.

Wow. You would think they could afford nice things in the B1G. No wonder Nebraska wants out.
