I don't feel like I need to know any West Virginians to hate their school: BYU vs WVU

I have a high school friend who attended WVU. He claims the couch burning stopped. Apparently he was wrong.

It's just no more couch burning on Campus and a stern lecture by the school president that guarantees students will burn more couches.Originally posted by Pelado View PostI have a high school friend who attended WVU. He claims the couch burning stopped. Apparently he was wrong.

My sister's baby daddy is a West Virginian. If that doesnt provide an imcentive to beat the hell out of the Mountaineers, I'm not sure what does. The only time I met him face to face, the POS invited a female "friend"
to their house to watch a WVU football game.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

My friend explained that the couches don't get burned after just any game:
Originally posted by Pelado's WVU-grad friendIt's for big games like against a ranked opponent. If Texas were coming to Morgantown this year and was ranked high and WV won. That would merit a couch burning. Or when WVU loses at home to an opponent it should beat or really hates.
In 1998 WVU lost to a ranked Miami in WV on a last minute field goal. The city was just about torched. Goal posts were torn down and the burning couches turned into a barricade in the middle of the street.Originally posted by PeladoSo if the town is burning, it's either really good or really bad. Reminds me of a Billy Joel song - "I Go to Extremes".Sent from my SM-G930V using TapatalkOriginally posted by Pelado's WVU-grad friendIf you've seen Morgantown, you'd look for an excuse to burn it down also.Last edited by Pelado; 09-18-2016, 08:23 PM."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Feels like this thread title should be "Almost Heaven.""They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Ritz Georgetown based purely on location. Ritz-Wash is closer to a metro, so there is that, but it's in the center of the government district so there is not a lot going on around the hotel.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostHey, folks who know DC more than me!
If you were going to spend a couple of nights at either the Ritz-Georgetown, or the Ritz-Washington DC (22nd and M Street), which would you choose?
Likely as not I will end up at the Econolodge, but just in case.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Tempting, as the John Adams suite is available for only $7K a night.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostCan 'em both and go to the Willard.
I'd like to stay at the Willard, but the Ritz gives me a corporate discount, and the Willard doesn't, so it would be significantly more money.
