You have an accurate definition of every turn, if that means one turn every five years. In the next two or three years, Utah might actually break .500 in its cumulative overall conference record.

    Since joining the PAC12:

2011: 4-5 conference record finishing 3rd in division and 6th overall
2012: 3-6 conference record finishing 5th in division and 9th overall
2013: 2-7 conference record finishing 5th in division and 10th overall
2014: 5-4 conference record finishing 5th in division and 7th overall
2015: 6-3 conference record finishing 2nd in division and 4th overall

In 2014 and 2015 I am not really sure what your point is. I don't find it too impressive to be in contention to rep your division with 2 games to play. Heck WSU was in contention up to that point this year, despite losing to a D-II team.
My question was whether there was any factual errors. And on point, there were no factual errors. The reality is that they shit the bed when it mattered most. Losing to Colorado in 2011, Arizona in 2014, and UCLA 2015 pushed them out of the game.

As for WSU, I would be careful bagging on them, as there is a solid chance you will be playing them in the Vegas Bowl, and with your deficiencies in the secondary, that may be a long, long game.

I think its funny too. Thought about discussing Nebraska's rivals in the "The Rivalry Thread" with all this BYU-Utah discussion; but I thought better of it. Also, I'm not sure who is Nebraska's current rival.

Ha. They don't have one. Nobody cares about Nebraska anymore.

No "factual errors" but it is clear that you haven't accepted the Ute program for what it is. If "pushing the top dogs at all turns" means being in the running to represent the PAC 12 south with 2 games left to play, then you should be pleased, but what's funny is that you think that that is significant in and of itself. Guess we can both feel good.

You discreetly left off the sentence prior to the one you quoted. Utah took its lumps early on, but I am satisfied with the trajectory of the team, and I anticipate that we will be in a position to push the top of the division and conference moving forward.

In 2012 and 2013, we weren't pushing anyone at that point. In fact, the only wins of consequence were Stanford in 2013 and BYU both years.

Nebraska isn't the only team without a rival. Is Utah still BYU's rival? Don't rivals actually play?

I thought if Nebraska upset Iowa and ruined the Hawkeyes season, a Nebraska-Iowa rivalry would have gained additional traction. But that went out the window when the coaching staff thought it was a good idea to have Tommy Armstrong chuck it into the endzone from the 20-yard line on 4th-and-1.

Some, like you, think Nebraska will never be relevant again but I think its a matter of having the "right" coach in place. I don't expect Nebraska to ever go 60-3 over a five-year span again but I do think the Cornhuskers will compete for conference championships and national championships at some point in the future. It might be with Mike Riley at the helm (I have my doubts) or maybe with Scott Frost down the road. Here's an updated table with those programs over the past 50 years (1966-present):

School W-L-T Win Pct. National titles Heismans
                        Michigan 433-158-8 .730 1 2
                        Nebraska 475-139-5 .771 5 3
                        Ohio St. 461-130-8 .776 3 4
                        USC 429-163-14 .719 5 6
                        Alabama 460-148-5 .754 6 1
                        Oklahoma 455-143-8 .757 4 4
I was curious to see how BYU stacks up to the greats. Over the last 50, BYU is .675 with 1 NC and 1 Heisman. Not too shabby. In another 10 years we won't have the pre Lavell era sandbagging us, and our average should be in the .704 range (no additional NC or Heisman predicted nor expected).

I thought about adding BYU but didn't want Cougar fans to take it the wrong way. Agree that BYU is not far off the pace.

Did I miss any? As you already know, 1978 was split with Alabama but I give the Trojans credit for beating Bama that year. And 2003 was split with LSU (why OU was playing in the national title game after losing to KSU in the Big 12 title game is beyond me).
