A high school friend who now teaches at Missouri said things have been really stirred up and hostile since Ferguson. He is of the very left academic side and when he speaks of hostility he is referring to the white population in and around Columbia.

A lot of the student body and faculty was pretty involved with the political movement in Ferguson.

Things are bad and the administration, apparently, hasn't been responsive enough. Saying racism is bad has been insufficient. The protesters and student groups want social justice in the form of quotas, programs, and financial investment.

Yes, but it is phrased as an unarmed black teenager who was shot and killed by a white cop. That way you can continue to introduce the shooting in a technically correct but misleading fashion.
