So do Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Kansas State and Iowa State, but I don't see the same side quests being done by Big 12 content creators. It's entirely possible my algorithm just doesn't show those to me.

All of those universities listed have a much smaller alumni base than BYU (I just googled it). BYU's is larger than anyone in the conference with the sole exception of Arizona State, which is the largest University in the US.

I wouldn't involve the Brethren just yet. It's possible that BYU is paying Drake with free cougar tails or something non-monetary.

I don't think it's money or favors from a donor. I think it's that BYU fans online respond very positively to any praise. I theorize that this is at least partially due to the inferiority complex thrust upon the fandom throughout the G5/Independence years. And of course the often negative views of the church. So this effect gets ramped up when the hosts say nice things about the church on top of the sports talk. It must be fairly lucrative to say nice things about BYU and Mormonism because I've watched several channels add BYU specific content and clickbait and I don't see them doing it for other teams. Sleepers, John Kurtz, Locked on Big 12 to name a few.

I've seen Kurtz acknowledge that he's putting out more BYU content (relative to some of the other Big 12 fanbases) because of market forces. His content about BYU tends to get a lot more views than content about (at least some of the) other conference teams.

I was obviously just messing around, but the Locked on group is EXORBITANTLY 'click baitey' without any real analysis. All fluff no stuff, if you catch my drift. Kind of like a bunch of middle schoolers half talking sports and half (inside) joking around. The locked on Utah guy is also just as annoying as the rest of them.

I haven't watched the Utah version of the Locked On network (maybe there isn't one, I have never seen that channel), but I don't find their hosts to be "all fluff no stuff", at least not in comparison with any other podcaster or radio host that has to fill 30 minutes or more of content each day.
