His arrest record for a felony still exists. It happened a few days after he turned 18 so it will be there for life. Many colleges have a question about arrests on their applications. In many states, prospective employers can and do ask about arrests as opposed to convictions. Only a few states have laws against asking about arrests on job applications. He'll also be in the FBI's crime databases with a felony arrest, etc.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI feel bad for him too, but how on earth would this prevent him from getting into a good college?

Isn't there a process whereby a court could order the arrest to be expunged from the record? If so, Layton should foot the bill.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View PostHis arrest record for a felony still exists. It happened a few days after he turned 18 so it will be there for life. The federal level would be difficult but at the state level there should be a method of expunging even arrests.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostIsn't there a process whereby a court could order the arrest to be expunged from the record? The only question is whether he could get it done before he leaves on his mission on Nov. 9. Probably not. Layton and the state should expedite it.Originally posted by Topper View PostThe federal level would be difficult but at the state level there should be a method of expunging even arrests.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different.
