Oklahoma also has some good wins. Of the six halves they played against Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State, they dominated five of them. Mayfield had a concussion in the other one.

Oklahoma has the best offense of the playoff teams and its defense Wwwis on par with Clemson's defense. Clemson's offense isn't far behind. But I feel Oklahoma's pair or elite running backs gives them the edge, especially when they have studs at QB and receiver.

Alabama looks like it clearly has the best defense. Again, if Alabama and Oklahoma play in the first round, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Alabama wins or if they're favored.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I noticed that when it happened. Not a good look for Cook.

        • Two of the playoff teams lost to teams with 5-7 records. Weird.

          • Nate Silver's blog, which I've always thought was excellent in its predictions and not merely when it conforms to my opinions, says that Oklahoma has the best shot at the title at around 40%.

They think the playoff rankings will be Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Michigan State in that order. Michigan State is the red headed step child of the bunch.

            Clemson's at 20%, Alabama 28%, Oklahoma 39%, Michigan State 11%.

            • I'm kind of surprised by the seeds. Michigan State should have two losses and they beat an Iowa team that's been lucky the whole year. But they also beat Ohio State, so...

Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if the committee really thinks Alabama is the best team right now, but wanted to avoid questions about dropping the last unbeaten team a spot.

              • I'm actually tempted to go to the Alamo Bowl. A Oregon/TCU match up would be fun and I'd be cheering for Oregon to demolish the frogs.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. It is a travesty the Mountain West has been forced into this situation.

Some real professionalism exhibited there. Nicely done, MWC.

Like this is the first time a bowl matched two teams from the same conference in a rematch.

There is consensus change is needed and this year's outcome must not be repeated.
                          Nice proofreading, MWC.

It cracks me up that he also complains that there are too many bowl games. Without all those bowl games, his teams might not be going to bowls at all.
