Lol. Not to mention they hired a DC who will turn 72 this year who has coached just one year in the last 11. I bet Scalley wishes he jumped in the life raft now.

The good news is that utah is going into the season looking very strong at the QB position and under a head coach that is committed to being there for the long haul.

            Wrong!

BYU returns an early heisman candidate at QB and one of the top 5 coaches in football to lead the team.

            qed.

Wait, now you are happy Taysom is coming back? I thought you thought that BYU would be better off moving on?

                Same.

Both of Utah's head coaches have national championships (Whit 2008, Erickson 1989/1991) and we have a huge stable of QBs from which to choose.

Totally happy. And Bronco is a top 5 coach in football. And the lakers are better off with Kobe.

                      lol. seriously, very funny.

thought I wasn't aware the utes were going with the co-head coach thing this year. If they disagree on what should be happen in any given circumstance, does the QB coach have the final say? Should be interesting!

I guess it would have been more correct to say "Both Utah's head coach and assistant head coach have national championships." Thanks for the correction.

I'm still not convinced Whit will be at Utah this coming year. I'm still waiting on GorMo's follow-up piece.

my guess is that if the NFL doesn't pluck Whit over the next few weeks, then the rumors of him taking over the Notre Dame or Auburn jobs will probably prove to be true.

My guess is that if a situation like that arises, they just let Travis Wilson improvise on the fly.

I agree. I'm very surprised Whit turned down the 49ers job this year. He's obviously more comfortable in the college game so he'll likely hold out for something like Florida, Notre Dame, Texas, or D-coordinator at BYU.

I guess I somehow missed Kyle Whittingham's national championship in 2008. I do remember Dennis Erickson's national championships at Miami though.
