Boise has horrible academics and is not a comparable situation to BYU's. They also have way better coaches than we do, and it's because they do, not because of money.

I don't know what to think of FSU. They might just be a bad football team that barely squeaked by some other bad football teams en route to their undefeated regular season. They rarely if ever, looked dominant. Otoh, they are undefeated and did beat a really good GA Tech team recently.

Your first sentence will never happen. Part of the reason we get some of the kids we do is because of those things. There's nothing to distinguish us from the other schools without that stuff. Paying assistants more is reasonable. The rest is not ever going to change or happen.

I disagree with your assertion that we couldn't do it.

As to distinguishing us we would be like Vegas weird and different enough to attract the weird LDS but not so weird to be unable to compete. Let those super weirdos go to Ricks where girls with two piercings can lose their fiancees.

I understand Boise has weak academics. I want BYU's to be stronger. One denomination that has grown worldwide are the Seventh Day Adventists who focus on hospital building. The LDS should more like that. We should make education our number one priority. Every dingle department should strive to become a top 25 department or be dropped. ME should become a robotics mecca and so forth. We should build a BYU South America. The religion department should be demoted to seminary status or converted to a true divinity school with academic freedom. These changes would reverse the downward trend in the missionary program. There should be a drive to be great not just merely adequate or better than UVU. BYU once had that drive but it has lost it. None of those would be easy.

I think they're an excellent team that plays to the level of competition they face. I think they have a really good chance of beating Oregon. It's nuts to me they're underdogs given their win streak.

Just saw a stat that is a bit mind boggling: Oregons all-timerecord against AP 1 or 2? 0-19-1. Zero wins.

that means that technically BYU has more wins against AP 1 or 2 than Oregon.
