Meyer is well on his way to winning a national championship with his 2nd school. He beat the consensus top team last week with his 3rd string QB. It is looking like he is about to run the consensus 2nd team off the field with his 3rd string QB. He was the first coach to take a non-BCS team to a BCS team, under much tougher rules than anyone else has done.

He won at Bowling Green where no one else has been able to win.
Meyer has always inherited talent and never had to "build" a program. Saban has done it at three different places. No doubt Urban can get the most out of a talented team, but he isn't better than Saban.

Great game Bucks. That is all. End of a great season. Until next year.

If I would have known you were going to leave until next season I would have been cheering for tOSU all along.

      • At some point we need to stop pretending it's some great accomplishment for Urban to have done what he did with Cardale Jones at QB. Yes, he was the 3rd string QB to begin the season, but ultimately he proved to be Urban's best QB and will be the starter for a couple more years unless he decided to get drafted in the 1st round in the NFL. Cardale Jones has everything you want in a college QB. He's big, strong, fast, strong arm, poised, accurate enough and makes good decisions with the ball. He's a big time QB and a coach should be fired if he can't win with that guy at QB.

To laud Urban for winning with 3rd string Cardale Jones would be akin to praising Belichik for winning Super Bowls with a 6th round draft pick. That 6th round draft pick might be the best QB of all time. He should be fired if he can win a Super Bowl or two with that guy.

Ha. Listen, I can't stand Urban either, but this kind of talk is ridiculous.

About time you stop pretending that it's some great accomplishment to beat three of the best teams in college football in elimination games with a 3rd string qb who previously hadn't seen a meaningful snap.

Give Urban credit for developing Cardale Jones, for recruiting him and getting him to come to Ohio State. My post isn't about discrediting Urban in any way. The fact is Cardale Jones is a damn good QB and based on what he did the last three games of the season, if he had started from day one, tOSU likely would have beat VA Tech on their way to an undefeated season.

Seriously. All he's proven is that he's a horrible judge of talent. Why was his best QB sitting on the bench at 3rd string? Sheesh.

                • Clearly Urban Meyer is a shitty coach for not making Jones the starter against Virginia Tech.

Even great coaches don't always make perfect decisions. He punted on 4th and 1 last night, for crying out loud!

I'm sorry, HFN. I really am.

What do you expect. This is the same guy who says that except for the National Championship game everything else is stupid and meaningless.

This is ludicrous. At places like Ohio State and Alabama, recruiting is not a problem, or even a challenge. But as we see at places like Texas, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, LSU, top ten recruiting does not automatically a champion make.
