Takitaki isn't trying very hard.

Still getting the situation sorted out from his theft in the SFH this summer and he does something else and gets caught.

It is one thing to skirt the rules discretely, it is another to be blatant/careless enough to get caught doing something serious enough to get kicked off the team mid-season.

I bet it's something minor, but given his previous history he's on a short leash. I don't know what happened, and I'm glad, because that's how it's supposed to be.

Mendenhall acknowledged Monday that the circumstances resulting in the suspension for the remainder of the season of starting linebacker Sione Takitaki are a university matter and go beyond what BYU announced last week as a violation of team rules."I have worked with the university, and he is not [practicing] with the team," Mendenhall said of the sophomore from Fontana, Calif. "So all of his time literally right now is physical training separate from the team, and then academics. If he is able to do that part effectively, then he could be back in status to maybe practice, and I will emphasize 'maybe,' with contingencies, for spring practice. But everything would have to go perfectly for that to happen. If not, then he would be not eligible for spring, either."
