Seek out a P5 team that has a need for a RB , better than BYU.
Transfer to a DII school and play immediately to prepare for the NFL, better than BYU.

He needs to get out of the negative environment of BYU/Provo. Unless he did something illegal, which is clear that he didn't, he should be playing for BYU this year. It is unreasonable to expect someone without a religious basis for following the Honor Code to follow it. It is sad to see a good kid punished for being a 20 year old. BYU provides a good environment for some of the LDS population, I don't understand why someone who is not LDS and has other options would want to be there.
You clearly have a firm grasp on Jamal's situation. I'm sure he will take your opinion under advisement.

Give me a good reason why he should remain at BYU? The only reasons that you can give me are selfish because you want to see him play and you want him to benefit his team. If you had his best interests at heart, you would be supporting him getting out of Provo.

      • Funk! Welcome back.

I agree there is some risk of Baby J not coming back. I hope he does though.

I don't know him so obviously I can only give my reasons for him to stay.

What an awful attempt at trolling. You can do much better than this.

I'm not trolling, I'm stating my honest beliefs about the situation. I don't troll on this board.

Not knowing someone has never stopped you from commenting about their situation. See your claims about Chase Hanson and Frank Jackson. How is Chase Hanson doing up at BYU right now? Is he in the running for the QB position or is BYU going to be moving him to defense?

I'll take your non answer as an acknowledgment that you know that I'm right. It is a horrible place and situation for him.

I know you're posting to be funny. So you're right. BYU is a horrible place and there is no good reason that 30,000 different people make the choice to attend there every year, including you.

                  • Maybe he could play for Utah. What an opportunity he has before him.

Logic fail (that is how we do it right). I didn't say BYU was a "horrible" place for everyone, only that it is a horrible place for the non-LDS.

Yes 30,000 people choose to attend BYU each year. Of those 30,0000, 98.7% of them are members of the LDS church. So about 390 non-LDS make the decision to attend BYU.

I acknowledged in my initial post that it is a good place for some of the LDS population. It is not a good option for individuals that are not LDS. I called it a horrible place for the non-LDS and I stand by the statement.

There are plenty of non-LDS examples that could refute this statement, but I think you already know this. Is BYU tough for non-LDS, kids? Sure, heck we have seen that it is hard for kids who were raised LDS to stay out of HC trouble, but to say that it is never a good option for individuals who are not LDS is hyperbole and you know it.

Despite the efforts of church leaders and church members to push me out, I do continue to identify as LDS and expect that I will identify as LDS for the remainder of my life.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
