I think that map show Oregon as the number 3 school in the state. There is a street in Murray, connecting State and VanWinkle that has 3 consecutive mailboxes representing Utah, BYU, and Oregon."You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

What's worse is that both my church boss and work boss are ute fans. Fortunately my home bossOriginally posted by imanihonjin View PostI am truly sorry for you. Here in the Midwest I have only one guy in the ward who is a Ute fan. He is insufferable, but because their is only one, he is easy to ignore.hatesdoesn't care about sports.I'm like LeBron James.

Sad to see Utah with more of a reddish hue than a blueish. Although much of that is most likely due to the Utes recent success on the gridiron, I wonder if some of that is due to Utah's continued diversification with non-native Utahans and non-Mormons. If someone relocates to Utah without any strong school ties and is not LDS, I would think he would adopt Utah. Something else at play is the student demographics with BYU admissions. Only about 1/3 of the BYU student body is from Utah while almost the entire student body of U. of Utah are native students. That means there will always be more Utah alumini than BYU alumni in the state. All that needed to happen is for Utah to gain some respectablity in football to allow Ute fans to come out of the closet and claim them.
I question Texas Longhorn dominance that's portrayed in the Lone Star State. My experience in the greater Dallas area is that fan loyalty is somewhat evenly spread between Texas, Texas A&M, and OU. The few times I've been in Houston, I've seen more evidence of Texas A&M than Texas. Overall, there's no question that the Longhorns are the most popular team in Texas but the map makes it appear that almost everything in Texas is burnt Orange when many areas should reflect a hue more representative of a cross between burnt Orange and Aggie Maroon.
As far as Nebraska, the author points out the contributions of Tom Osborne but misses the mark. Husker football was strong long before Osborne; the current home game sell out streak started a dozen years before Osborne became HC and has contiuned 17 years since he retired from coaching. Osborne did represent Nebraska's 3rd Congressional District (central and western Nebraska) for seveal terms in the House but lost that district when he ran for Governor. If that large area of Nebraska was so loyal to Osborne, then he would have been elected governor. But Osborne supported policies that were best for the entire state but not in the best interests of the 3rd district and lost the Governor election as a result. One final point for anyone still reading: Yes, Tom Osborne won at least 9 games every season (and 3 NCs; not 2) during his 25 years as HC. But Bo Pelini won at least 9 games every season until he was fired at the end of last season. Winning isn't everything in Nebraska; how one wins is also important.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

Channel surfing in my hotel room in Panama. #1 on the culture list!Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostBYU has a national, nay an international following! The greatness of our fan base can't be defined by a stupid map of Utah. Who wants to be popular in all that Utah desert wasteland anyway?! -- nothing out there but livestock and people with below average IQs anyway.

Mccoy Hill was so great the first day of practice CStew is coming back to have someone run the offense in spring ball.

Don't worry, DDD still thinks BYU would be better off without Taysom next year. So if McCoy doesn't pan out, we can start Mangum, who will be about 4 weeks home from his mission.Originally posted by SCcoug View PostMccoy Hill was so great the first day of practice CStew is coming back to have someone run the offense in spring ball.

It will be ok. Mangum should be sharp since all they do on those missions is train and study film of the teams they'll be facing when they get home.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostDon't worry, DDD still thinks BYU would be better off without Taysom next year.
