IPF gets used for intramurals and other things. If there was stuff scheduled for the facility of course they are going to boot a player. Same thing happens at many universities including the U. I used to play in a lacrosse league that played in The Bubble and I believe they still play it in the current facility as well as several other things including little league football.

Thanks. It sounded like more than just a player was getting booted. I would assume any type of athletic scheduling would take first priority no matter what time of year.Originally posted by Shaka View PostIPF gets used for intramurals and other things. While I can't say exactly how it works I'd assume the athletic teams get first dibs and are asked to submit practice schedules for each semester. Everything else is scheduled around that. Yes, I could see a team getting the boot if they had exceeded their scheduled time.Originally posted by byu71 View PostThanks. It sounded like more than just a player was getting booted. I think the gripe was that one or a small group of players got the boot when they were doing individual workouts outside of scheduled times. There's no way that BYU is going to reserve that facility solely for the use of football players who want to use it on a whim.

I can understand that. What would bug me is if I donated money for the facility and found out the dance group or choral group, etc. got anything but time left over from what the athlete's legitimately scheduled.Originally posted by Shaka View PostWhile I can't say exactly how it works I'd assume the athletic teams get first dibs and are asked to submit practice schedules for each semester. You're that guy, huh? You buy uniforms for your kid's team and then get pissed because you don't think the coach is playing the right players. Strings attached. Got it.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI can understand that. Good try to connect the two. If I thought there wasn't a prayer my kid was one of the top 3 players on the team, I would never buy the uniforms. One of my kids actually got screwed out of getting on an all star team because of that very thing. Neither one of us cried about it though, it happens.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostYou're that guy, huh? I would be pissed if the Mayor came to me for a donation for a rec. center for basketball and then found out the basketball teams had to compete with old people and their yoga classes.

uniforms, mortgage payments, legal fees... what's a dad got to do for his poor kids to catch a break in his world?Originally posted by Donuthole View PostYou're that guy, huh? Good try to connect the two, but what kind of basketball team would fall under a mayor's purview? Not one worth getting pissed about, that's for sure. Also, you don't think the rich guy who donated for a rec. center for yoga is pissed that the old people are competing with people playing basketball. Oh, you believed the mayor when he blew that smoke up your ars about your donation being the most important one? You thought you were the special one he told that to? I guess I will just admit it: you are just not that current.Originally posted by byu71 View PostGood try to connect the two. Hey, leave me out of your personal rift with BYU71. He knows my jabs are playful. I don't want him thinking I am in cahoots with liars like you.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postuniforms, mortgage payments, legal fees... what's a dad got to do for his poor kids to catch a break in his world?Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I believed back in '99 or 2000 or whenever it was the donation was given. I was in the camp that felt BYU was the one and only true University. No one then could have convinced me they blow smoke up people's arses.
Now I think they have it down to an art form.

Not that I'm aware. Bronco has never helmed a bad defense-even staffed with nobodies. The only times our defense has been outright pathetic is when Bronco gave the reins to underlings.

Maybe the D looks bad right now because the O is so dominate.Originally posted by byu71 View PostOver on CB someone dissed the upcoming D and no one really disputed it.

Unless the pass rush improves dramatically along with the DB's, then we are going to see a lot of shootouts.( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

There are legit questions in the secondary. I think our CB depth is on par to slightly above where we typically are. Preator had his ups and downs, but I think he'll be above average from what we've had at corner at BYU. He'll share time with Michael Davis, who has flashed potential but been very inconsistent. On the other side Micah Hanneman I believe is slated to be the other corner. At safety Kai Nacua will be fine, although there are questions to whether or not he'll be suspended from actions on the Miami Beach Brawl. Eric Takenaka comes from Snow as a fairly highly recruited strong safety.Originally posted by byu71 View PostOver on CB someone dissed the upcoming D and no one really disputed it.

Up front we should be fine with Bronson moving back to DE more consistently, teamed with Remington Peck, Logan Taele and Graham Rowley at ends and and Travis Tuiloma and Kesni Tausinga in the middle. Our backers are talented as usual. Fred Warner, Sione Takitaki, Harvey Langi, Manua Pikola, JLD, Austin Heder, Sae Tautu, etc. will be fine.
I don't think it's going to be the Bronco D of 2012 that finished 3rd in the country in scoring D. But I do think we'll be improved over last year when we finished 55th.
