I just wonder why Kuresa is always wanting to throw himself in to the spotlight. I've heard a lot of interviews with him over the years, and he seems to have a bit of an axe to grind. I don't know why that is.
I didn't listen to the interview but your first paragraph doesn't indicate to me he had an axe to grind. What have you left out?

I saying that based on interviews I've heard from him over the years, he seems to be the first guy in line for a radio interview. It just sounds like conjecture and speculation for him to say he wasn't sure of anyone getting benefits, but that he's sure it was going on. That seems to be contradictory to me.

The only specific instances we've heard of thusfar is Hoffman getting some socks and Derik Stevenson crashing on the guys couch after he got out of jail.

I don't get that sense from listening to him but I do get a sense he's not afraid to speak his mind. Some players graduate and continue to act as if they're still enrolled and won't speak their mind while others leave and put it in the rear view mirror, never to return. Still, many others, like Jake, leave and just don't feel constrained to hide the truth or even speculate as to obvious possibilities.

Could be. I've just felt he had a negative tone in general about the school the last few times I've heard him on the radio. I drive between a few different sites and periodically will catch an interview and that's just what I've taken from it.

Jake was there during the Crowton years, when the program became a bit of a trainwreck. I wouldn't be surprised if his experience at BYU wasn't at least partially soured due to that. I don't think he's upset with BYU, like others have said - I just get the sense he doesn't mind saying what he's thinking. And some of the frustrations he endured while there may have taken BYU off the pedestal that many have it on.

I say that about Jake as an admitted BYU critic, btw. I don't defend BYU for its hypocrisy but I just don't get the sense Jake is negative towards BYU is all. Oh well.

I just know I'm gonna be pissed if I have to start freezing my ass off in Laramie with landpoke because UW is the only school I like that still has a football team. I really hope this isn't as big a deal as we are worrying it will be.

Derek Stevenson sez ESAD to Busby critics:

It angers me to hear people talking about him as if he were some shady, run-of-the-mill booster from some crap school. The man is a saint. The man is a giant. Everyone will likely come to the same conclusion at the end of this investigation; Duane Busby is guilty of having a big heart and doing all in his power to help the kids that he’s grown to love. I have no doubt that they will find that he bent and maybe even broke a few stupid, outdated NCAA rules. But BYU’s Athletic Department needs to stand behind Duane Busby because each one of them that truly knows exactly what Duane has always been about. Duane had my back when times were really tough. BYU needs to have his back now. I know many from our Band of Brothers, for damn sure, are going to rise up and be heard.

Duane Busby has always been the magic man behind the BYU Football curtain. I’m not going to sit quietly by and listen to people tarnish the type of person we all know him to be. Wherever you are Duane-O, we love you. You were always there for us. We’ve got your back.

I don't think this is a very big deal and BYU Cougar football will continue. But I do advise jumping on the Wyoming Cowboy bandwagon. I'm very high on their new coach Craig Bohl.

See Kevin Graham's tweet above. Bronco was a Riley Nelson guy.

I do like the Stevenson loyalty and no one likes a pregame speech more than I do but saints don't knowlingly violate NCAA rules. Is it much ado about very little? Probably, but very good people do things wrong and it looks as if he did some things the wrong way.

I too hope BYU doesn't throw him under the bus post mortem because he does sound like a genuinely good guy but if he broke rules he should be held accountable (and anyone else involved for that matter).

Yeah I don't know. The guy is still very dedicated to the program, and obviously would have a lot of connections.

I believe that too, but leaders and institutions provide a bad example. The President of the US makes up his own all the time. The US attorney general tells state attorney generals they should ignore rules they don't agree with. Heck the LDS church isn't for following the rules when it comes to immigration laws.

Rules don't matter anymore. Getting caught is what matters.
