    This is something we can agree on. BYU adds a brand new video board and half of it is taken up by Ads, shrinking it by about 1/2.

    They also add a nice ribbon board around the stadium that was used for nothing but advertising the entire first season. Including a horrible Mountain America ad that lights up the entire stadium in fluorescent colors, blinding you for several minutes.

    Year 2 it was 75% ads and about 25% stats and other useful information.

            You pay Saban whatever he wants. that is a no brainer.

            And the BYU video boards were a huge disappointment.

                The size was about what I thought but the blatant disregard for their advertisers really was an oversight.

                  i dont care about ads but the screens should have been much bigger. Really weak, frankly. While they definitely improved the video quality from the previous boards, the size increase doesn't seem that noticeable. Could have been much more dramatic.

                  Also, while we are on the subject, figure out a better way to light up the oval Y because the "light the Y" thing is dumb. People push a button and you can't even see the Y light up because the sun is still shining.

                      Correct. BYU will not be able to compete in the Big 12 w/o the honor code. If the honor code is abolished, say goodbye to all the blue chip RM recruits.

                              I for one really appreciate BYU's new video boards, as relatively disappointing as they may seem. When you visit Boise State and its vaunted smurf turf, the only thing that really strikes you as a fan is that you have no idea what is going on in the game unless you have been watching unblinkingly the entire time. Want to know the score? Too bad. What quarter it is? Sorry! A brief, poorly produced, embarrassing Boise State promo vid? Don't even think about it.

                              I think they have some banners mounted in the lower bowl that scroll the score from time to time, but I was really stricken by how uncomfortable it is to watch a game without those amenities we take for granted.
