It is annoying.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostAnother awful fight song....Texas...I've been working on the railroad.
But on the plus side, it drives Sooner fans crazy."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

That's why I stand in support of Popcorn Popping. Sure it's lame, but it's ours. It is the only original tradition we have, except Bronco's new tradition of unreasonable sloganeering. I embrace it.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostMost of the BYU's in-game traditions win little to no points because they are almost all stolen from other schools.
.
The worst tradition in college football is the Texas Tech jerk-off bell.

My favorite tradition in college in the St Joe's Hawk. This crazy looking mascot flaps its wings during the entire basketball game. It cannot stop. It has been said that the guy in the mascot suit loses several pounds during each game. If you ever catch a SJU game on TV, stop and watch, just for the hawk. it always stands in the corner and just flaps its wings nonstop. It is hilarious.Originally posted by YOhio View PostThat's why I stand in support of Popcorn Popping. Sure it's lame, but it's ours. CHeck out this commercial and then check out the youtube clip of an actual game. you can sort of catch the hawk at the bottom of the screen in the corner flapping its wings.

As for Michigan they always sing the Michigan Alma Mater in the Locker room before the game.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThese 3 schools stand above the rest because they share a fraternal bond in several categories.....fight song, tradition, mascot, game day rituals, uniforms, stadium venue, and rabid national followings.
Pros and Cons of the 3:
Michigan helmets win for being the most recognizable in all of college football. Michigan's fight song is iconic, but loses a few points for claiming to be the champions of "the west." Such language instantly dates the composition. Michigan wins points for its massive venue, The Big House. Michigan doesnt really win many points for its uninspired boring mascot. Also, with the exception of running onto the field and slapping the banner, what else does Michigan do? One tradition I have always liked about Michigan...."those who stay will be champions." That is a cool slogan.
Utah's fight song is an abomination to all college sports. This isn't just my opinion. I think ESPN recently listed it as one of the 10 worst fight songs, or 10 gayest fight songs, or somesuch. The lyrics are dated, sexist, and absurd. Seriously, how can a Ute defend such a horrid tradition?
As for Utah's fight song I like the original lyrics:
I am utah man sir and a I live across the green
Our gang it is the jolliest that you have ever
we drink our stein or lager and we smoke our big cigar
You can hear it ringing out in the mountains near and far"Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum
"And here’s what life comes down to—not how many years you live, but how many of those years are filled with bullshit that doesn’t amount to anything to satisfy the requirements of some dickhead you’ll never get the pleasure of punching in the face." – Adam Carolla

Based on this stanza and also your sig line, it appears that the Ute fight song uses a form of the word "jolly" at least two times?

beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholderOriginally posted by cougjunkie View PostTo be honest I really dont think its any contest as to who has the better fight song. BYUs may not be great but it blows Utahs out of the water."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point.
