I knew he was extremely unwell but this comes as a big surprise. RIP Todd. Dude's heart was as big as his vocab was gratuitous.
He was my on my High Council during my last two years at BYU and spoke in my ward a couple of times. One of those times was a father's day and his recounting of his relationship with his own father was extremely moving. The other one he wore a white suit and a pink shirt and said that he wanted to make the point that if you dress only to stand out people will remember you for what you wear and not much else. I heard it and was trying to confirm as well. One of my favorite Cougars an NFL players. Also he's the only High Council person who didn't put me to sleep.
I've interacted with him on several occasions and he was always gracious and kind. One of my favorite moments was when I was sent to umpire an AFHS baseball game and my partner didn't show. Todd offered to umpire the bases for me. I declined his offer but we jawed in between innings for the rest of the game.Comment

I know lots of people didnt' like TC as an announcer. I always enjoyed him casually dropping some NYT-crossword-puzzle word into the middle of his color analysis.
My only real life interaction w/ Todd, was playing pick-up ball with him once at the SFH. He was there running stairs, and asked us if he could play along. I don't recall him being a great shot, but not surprisingly he was very strong and ultra competitive. He also had a bathrug full of hair on his chest, that he slimed me with one time

Todd could appear to be offish and big worded was not just an appearance. From the people I know who knew him you just had to look past where he seemed arrogant.
I feel for his wife and from the people who know them I have heard nothing but great things about her. I guess at a party for one of the younger teams he coached, can't remember if football or baseball, he was going on and on with huge words. I guess she intervened and told him to knock of the big words, these are young kids.
She has to be relatively young and this has to be really tough for her. The Alpine community is a good one and I am sure she will get lots of support.Comment
