  • Wow what a game. Much like John Beck, a loss would have ruined my weekend so I'm glad we pulled it out.

The defense was uncharacteristic with how many big plays they gave up, but they shored things up in the second half. Bright spots for me were the play of Taysom all game and the partial reemergence of Apo. Who finally taught that kid to catch with his hands?

          Nice call.

          • What a ride. Nice to overcome some crazy stuff and win like that.

            • Game balls to Hill, Hoffman, Apo, Sorensen, Hadley, Fua and Hague. I may have left somebody out, but those are the guys who stand out to me right now.

                  • Next year, our corners will be significantly better. Excited to see this team.

                    • I know we barely won that game but it sure felt like we dominated most of the game. A few big plays by uh and a few key mistakes and turnovers by BYU made it closer than it should have been. Taysom is really growing up as a qb. If you would have asked me after the virginia game if Taysom would have been able to throw the ball as well as he did today I would never have believed it.

                      • I came into this season anticipating 6-6 to 8-4 and that's probably where will end up but everything that happens from Aug to Dec still takes years off my life...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

                        • This game was the type of game we lose every year. Big plays, weird plays breaking against you, refs that can't pull their heads out of their asses, yet we won this time. Progress, peeps. Progress.

                          • Nice win. That was fun to watch. Fua is going to be (already is) a great player. In addition to the game-sealing INT didn't he run down the long pass to save a TD that eventually became a missed FG?

                            • Wow. What an exciting, and at times frustrating and infuriating game. I had a few flashbacks to Tulsa and Hawaii. I started about 45 minutes late, so was catching up most of the game. I'm not sure if I should read this thread or not; I'm sure it gets ugly a couple of times.

I'm sure I am saying nothing new here, but a few thoughts:

Whether or not it was a great game by Taysom, it was without question an incredible game. Plenty of errors, including the picks, taking a couple of sacks that could have been prevented (though some couldn't), stepping out of bounds, etc. But just a huge amount of heart, toughness, skill, and clutch performance. Not to mention a few incredible passes. A month ago, who would have thought we would be seeing him make throws like he has the last couple of weeks? The kid took a beating and just kept coming back. Love this kid right now.

Hine is no J-Will (at least not yet). What happened to J-Will? The announcers didn't even notice he was gone until the game was almost over, which is surprising because I thought his absence made a BIG difference in the running game. Since I was running behind, I couldn't check to see what happened to him.

That makes two weeks in a row where Hoffman makes a great TD catch while being interfered with. This one wasn't quite as good as last week's but it was pretty impressive.

I love that Skyler and Apo had big games.

That catch by Fua was a thing of beauty. I don't know if any of our tight ends have made a catch like that in the last couple of years.

I am assuming that all Cougar nation had the exact same reaction as me when Lasike ran the sweep on the two point conversion. To be clear, my reaction was not "Good play call!"

All in all, I am pretty exhausted after that game. My son came home during the fourth quarter, saw me pacing, and said "Stressful game?" And that was when we were winning. But I can go to bed happy now.

EDIT: Oh, and Hostile's post reminded me. Play of the game may have been the third down on the goal line stand where Bronco makes a great call and Hague makes just a great sack.

                              • Hine is no JWill but I thought he did well behind a tired line. YPC not much different between the two.

Ridley was clutch. I'm starting to see why he has been in the mix. Also nice to see Apo with a solid outing.
