On a brighter note, I'm now addicted to buying tix on game day. We got 4 tix in one of the few covered sections of the stadium, west endzone for a great price. I wonder what prices will be like, though, this weekend with the Ducks in town.
Glad you have entered into the true order of ticket buying.

Also, was your wife walking around with her sister? If so, they walked right by me. If not, then two random women walked right by me. Either way, I came out a big winner in that situation.

Wouldn't Utah's improved status make the game more interesting and not less? Are you saying your kids are only interested in mediocre opponents?
I mispoke. When I said they don't care more than any other game I just assumed everyone would realize I didn't mean like games against Middle Tennesee state, Idaho St., Weber St.

My point was the Utah home game was the one they wanted. Even when a Texas, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Stanford etc. were coming to town. Notre Dame and SC was about equal.

This year their first choice was Texas. Utah was the second choice and the comment I got when I asked if the ones who picked Texas wanted me to buy them Utah tickets in the end zone, the answer was, no, don't care. I used to buy 10-15 tickets in the end zone for them and friends.

One of them told me it just isn't the same. Their friends they used to get into with over BYU vs Utah just don't care anymore except game week. They are more interested in their games coming up with USC, Oregon, et.al. Right or wrong, there are Ute fans who don't see the game as "the" big deal anymore. It's hard to get excited about beating up someone when you know it isn't going to sting them real bad.

It is like back in the Wayne Howard era and others when Lavell would consistently beat up Utah. The Utah game wasn't a big deal for me then.

Call me crazy, but if we lose to Utah again this year, it is going to sting real bad.

We can hear from the Ute fans, but I don't think us beating them will sting as bad for them as our losing will sting from us.

I could be the lone ranger, but I would be in the camp if we were in the PAC10 and Utah wasn't in a major conference, the Utah game would be down the rung on my priority ladder.

Are there any great rivalries out there where one team is BCS and another isn't?

            Colorado vs. CSU?

You can argue that Utah has more to lose than we do. They are supposed to win, right?

I don't think you are the lone ranger, but I think you are far too defeatist about the new world order.

CU vs CSU, I guess you would have to add USU vs BYU then. Wow, I never thought this would come.

I wouldn't call it defeatest, I would call it personal preference. I bought three season tickets this year and instead of that I could have paid for a real nice golf trip for me and the kids. I wouldn't call that defeatest.

I like Bronco. I think he is a good coach and a great defensive coordinator. However, his PR style while maybe creating excitement for a lot of fans, dampened mine. I don't see a right or wrong here. BYU football in the end is entertainment for me. While I think Brigham Young University is a great institution and has a great many things going for it, it isn't a a University I would have great kinship with if it weren't for athletics. Therefor the raw loylaty factor for me is gone.

If someone feels differently, that is great. I don't think they need to feel the same as I and I would hope a BYU die hard would allow me the same privilege.

Well things could be worse... we could lose to Utah only to make it into the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl to play and lose to them again.

Yeah, you have mentioned that a time or two.

We're not losing to Utah. In fact, we are going to beat them this month and again in the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Bowl. From a three game losing streak to a two game winning streak in one year! Perfect way for the series to go on hiatus.

                    • I have talked to 4-5 Duck fans this week that are worried about this weeks game simply because Virginia best a really good BYU team. Missionary moments everywhere.

I can see Oregon beating UVA by 50.

It's in Charlottesville. After 5.5 hours and 3 inches of rain, they might keep it within 20.

Ah, I didn't know that. yeah, 20-30 might be more reasonable.

I think Utah losing to BYU this year would sting more because it would be a huge blow to bowl eligibility more than because it was BYU.

As for other great rivalries, that CSU/CU game is not a big deal to many CU fans. It's a lot like the Utah vs. USU or BYU vs. USU game was prior to the past few years.

USU isn't in a BCS conference.
