I don't necessarily disagree with you in principle, but it could be argued Alabama was the best team in the country that season. Hard to say a team doesn't deserve to be there when they dominated the team they played - a team that did deserve to be there. Also, Alabama that season led the nation in rushing, total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense and passing defense. The best teams should play in the national championship game, and I would be hard-pressed to argue they weren't one of the best two teams in the country with that pedigree.

I'm not going to say that Alabama wasn't a great team. But your bolded comments mean absolutely nothing because they didn't couldn't even win their division that year. No other team from another conference would ever be chosen to play in the fake championship game if they didn't win their conference championship, let alone not win their division. Alabama did not deserve to be in that game.

The BCS is an absolute farce and has been from its conception. If we want the best teams to play in a championship game, it should happen on the field in a playoff, not decided by computers.

If people are being honest, they know the national championship game needs to include some combination of FSU, Alabama, Stanford and/or Oregon -- and at this point it's most definitely FSU and Alabama in the two top spots, and that's the game I really want to see. Even if Baylor and Ohio State are undefeated and either Alabama or FSU loses, I still don't want to see either Baylor of Ohio State in the national title game. In fact, I still put Stanford and Oregon ahead of them.

Oregon self eliminated the other night. Is Oregon probably a top 5 team? Yes. The rules have always been you can't lose in November. Hopefully Marcus decides he loves college and comes back!
