I've changed my thoughts on this. I actually want Ohio state to get to the title game, then lose. That would be way better than going undefeated two seasons in a row.
You know that in 2001 Stanford was Oregon's only blemish and gave way from your Huskers to get the privilege of being pounded by Miami instead of the Ducks getting pounded right?
Had forgotten that. Like many Nebraska fans, I've developed a selective memory after Tom Osborne retired. However, I do remember this: when Nebraska somehow found it's way into the Rose Bowl to play Miami for the championship after several upsets following the Husker's being embarrassed by CU in Boulder, I thought Nebraska could win another NC. Miami had barely defeated VT the week before. Then I had a chat with a Cane fan who pointed out only 2-3 Nebraska players were good enough to start for that 2001 Miami team. He aslo stated that Oregon was more deserving to play Miami in the Rose Bowl than Nebraska. I did some analysis and concluded he was correct on both counts. It then occurred to me that the worst case scenerio was about to happen: Miami pounding Nebraska in the Rose Bowl and Oregon defeating Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl.
My condolances on Oregon's loss to Stanford. I continue to think that Oregon will some day when a national title soon. They are too good not to and have come very close. They are deserving. If its any consolation, Nebraska fans waited over 20 years for Tom Osborne to win a national title and came very close on multiple occassions before finally breaking through and winning. I'd rather be in Oregon's shoes right now than Nebraska's.

Watching David Pollack and he says Stanford isn't in the National Championship picture because of the terrible loss to Utah. Says if Baylor runs the table they should get the shot at Bama.

I was impressed with their defense last night. They made tackles and flew to the ball. They blew up several plays. Now, OK's offense looked terrible. Every play was slow developing. Personally I'd like to see FSU and Bama, but if Baylor wins out they have a compelling argument. They have a difficult schedule remaining with TCU, Texas Tech, OK State and Texas. 3 of those 4 on the road. Meanwhile FSU has WF, Idaho, Syracuse and Florida remaining.

I think OU's offense is pretty bad. But your point is good; if they get through the schedule undefeated, they probably deserve the shot.

Jesse Palmer kept saying how good Stanford was and said he wanted to see them play Bama. His Florida roots were showing as he wasn't giving FSU any credit. After a 3 minute rant by Palmer about how great Stanford is. Pollack simply says "But they lost to Utah." Palmer quickly shut up.

I was also pretty impressed with Baylor last night. That being said I would be surprised if Baylor won out. Either TT and OK State will get them in a shootout. FSU's only remaining threat is Florida (whose offense is embarrassing right now) and the ACC championship game.

Alabama still has LSU and @Auburn on its schedule plus either Missouri, SC, or Georgia in the CCG. I'm not convinced the Crimson Tide win out even though they could be the best team in the nation. I also agree with others that Baylor probably gets beat. So I'm going with FSU and Ohio St.

I'll be cheering for the Bears. I want Baylor to go undefeated and then get shut out of the title bowl because the B12 doesn't have a championship game.
If the game were in Austin, I would absolutely agree. But the Longhorns have not played well on the road against BYU and Iowa St. Maybe they turned the corner after beating OU. They did win @TCU so maybe playing in Waco is not a big deal. This Saturday's game @West Virginia may be an indicator.

I hear ya. But it might mean Ohio St. gets in after defeating a feeble Michigan/Michigan St./Nebraska in a Big Ten CG. If it were Texas getting left out, it could very well spur expansion of the Big 12. Since it could be Baylor, Texas and OU won't care and they are the ones calling the shots.

Although they might not have a greatest offense, Sparty is anything but feeble.
