Correction, two superbowls in a decade span! Utah is racking up the accolades and I am not going to stand in the way.

I think you are confused with the actual Super Bowl, in which Dennis Pitta caught a TD pass.

      • When a mid-major upsets a highly ranked team, its fun to see the excuses given by the national press to explain away why it happened. You get the run of the mill "They weren't happy to be playing in that bowl game," "the Mid-Major doesn't play the murderer's row schedule and isn't as beat up," etc. The best example from yesterday was the discussion of Utah beating Stanford on College Gameday Final on ESPN. This was the conversation summed up:

Mark May - This loss was the result of poor play calling by Stanford. If they wouldn't have passed and stuck with the run on the goal line, they would have won.

Lou Holtz - I know coming from an academic institution that this is the time of midterms. Stanford was not focused. They were tired from studying at the expense of sleep. That looked like a football team that was in midterms.

Rece Davis - ...And they are at midterms at Stanford. There is another factor. They are coming off an emotional win. Its tough to win big and then go to an opponent who has not had success. Its hard to get the juices flowing.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

this must be the parity that Portland Ute was tweeting about.

I was trying to figure out what you were talking about when you said that Utah won a super bowl. I thought you were alluding to Van Noy's comment that the Utah/BYU game this year was his super bowl because it would be the last chance for him to beat Utah.

If that isn't the case, please clarify your comment.
