Not really my style to neener. I'm more of someone who enjoys the chaos on the hill quietly, while I eat a Harmon's donut and sip a diet Coke.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI'm just trying to help, as always. You can neener us about the rocky transiction to the Pac 12. Fire away.
I find great irony that most Utah fans think it would be a great idea to go back to the MWC.
Then again, you were never serious with this idea. You were trolling to begin with, amirite? Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

I, for one, am grateful for your mentoring; however, though your heart is pure, your efforts to convince BYU fans that the MWC (with BSU and SDSU) is the best option for BYU athletics will not be well received. Since your assessment of the situation is correct, I would prefer that you extol the virtues of independence in order to garner support for the MWC.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI'm just trying to help, as always. No. If you review the record I have always been appalled at BYU going independent. It caused me to lose a lot of respect for BYU. It seemed on the rebound from Utah joining the Pac. I was surprised at the impetuousness of the move and lack of confidence it evinced. I don't get the MWC hate. The MWC was in a golden age at the time, having won multiple BCS bowl games and was starting to make extra-Utah inroads into the NCAA tournament. Finally, I felt and I think it's being borne out that BYU simply doesn't have the horsepower to be independent and make it work. BYU needs a conference. The MWC is a solid conference. The record speaks for itself; I was never trolling about this issue. I think many (progressive) BYU fans agree with me.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostThen again, you were never serious with this idea. I've heard this before, but I don't see how it was a knee jerk reaction with the infrastructure strangely all being in place right when Utah was keen on leaving.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostNo. If you review the record I have always been appalled at BYU going independent. It truly was a good conference with Utah, TCU, and Boise coming on board, but without those first two teams, it's not nearly as attractive.
Nobody cares if you win that conference as it's currently composed. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

I've got to agree with SU on this one. Get SDSU and BSU back in and it's a good conference.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI don't get the MWC hate. I think BYU may allow pride to get into the way of making a good decision. I don't know if that is the MWC or the WAC/MWC 3.0, but I think that there is too much pride to allow some folks to admit that independence was a bad idea.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostIt's so cute you'd like us to go back to that disaster of a conference with our tails between our legs.
No thanks.
IMO, if they had not jumped and stayed in the MWC for 2011, they would have been in the B-12 in 2012."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."
"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

Independence was always a bad idea. I was against it and said we would have a schedule that looked like Navy's in Oct and Nov. We have. I also thought the MWC with BSU replacing Utah was a still solid conference. But that ship has sailed. There is no turning back. BSU is already on the schedule long term. So what would BYU get in returning? A crappy commissioner with a less than stellar TV agreement, and still playing crappy teams in most Octobers and Novembers. Going back now only makes the problem worse.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostI think BYU may allow pride to get into the way of making a good decision. You have no idea if that's true. While I want BYU to join the B12 more than anything and have for years, I don't really think it was that close to happening.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostI think BYU may allow pride to get into the way of making a good decision.
