I think they'll both back with Weber taking the blame. If the offense is a joke next year, then Doman will be gone.

I was able to attend the game on Friday. This is the first game I've attended at LES since I graduated from college. As the last the few minutes of the 4th quarter wound down, I kept having that distinct feeling of doom towards the offense. I call it Crowtonism. Crowtonism is winning by 9 instead of 2, fumbling the ball against UNLV, getting Whalen's TD run called back because of a block in the back against Nevada. I could go on and on.

When watching the game, I kept having that feeling of Crowtonism when watching the offense. That somehow, we'd fumble the snap with 1:40 left in the 4th quarter and lose the game when victory was already assured. I was somewhat relieved when we won the game, and figured maybe I was just paranoid.

I drove back to California all day Saturday. While stopping at a gas station, I checked my android and saw the tweets about Hill, surgery, and getting injured on the last real offensive play of the game. I had to laugh inside, for my feelings of Crowtonism had come true, and my hunches had proved correct.

I think we all feel these feelings of Crowtonism. I think Bronco feels it too. I believe that because of this Bronco will be willing to make a change in releasing Doman from OC duties.

          Here's why:

I attended the BYU Management Society Leadership Conference this week and listened to a presentation by Paul Gustavson and Allison Von Feldt (authors of Running Into the Wind). Certainly the book is a rah rah book for Bronco and the BYU program, but it does give us insight into the organizational behavior concepts that Paul has taught Bronco and Doman. Paul emphasized, in many of his stories, the idea that "Organizations are perfectly designed to produce the results they get."

It is painfully obvious that having a running quarterback led offense is going to produce injuries to the QB. I think Bronco understands that offenses designed in this manner are not sustainable at BYU. I think he will demand that Doman quit this type of offense after this year or face a demotion. I would be surprised if he fires him (although I do believe that Doman's performance is worthy of firing).

He will not fire or demote Doman for this reason simply because Bronco loved the concept just as much as Doman and signed off on it. I have a hunch the concept is wearing thin for both of them and changes will be made in the offseason and possibly sooner.

What's frustrating is that Doman hasn't provided any level of continuity or consistency with the offense. It's so Crowton-like, bouncing from one idea to the next. We keep wasting time (feels like 3 seasons worth) trying out new concepts.

Good example, but wrong. Chow wasn't fired. Chow was told that he wasn't going to be the HC, and he chose to become the OC at NC State.

Maybe Bronco could hire Crowton as OC. You know, one of those circle of life things...

Wrubell is still at it. I think the Taysom injury kind of pissed him off.

He must have gotten pissed off vibes from Bronco too. There is no way Wrubell would go off if he thought Bronco would be displeased.

Doman did a better job with play calling today, outside of a few option plays. I liked the shovel passes and am glad he didn't over use them. I'm starting to wonder how many QB run calls are actually made by Doman and how much is just happy feet from QBs.

Doman did about as well as could have been asked, I think. I just don't know how much more you can expect out of Riley.

If only he could choose who plays quarterback.
