No, the list is still stupid. You won't see my crowing about high preseason rankings for BYU. It's nice, but I'd rather have the team earn a ranking on the field rather than ride on the coattails of what it did last season (and any hype generated by the media)>

Preseason polls carry too much weight in how things ultimately unfold. They should delay the rankings of any major human polls for at least a couple of weeks.

Amen, but I'd push it to the fifth week. Give me a solid month of play and then rank the teams. It is too unfair that a team ranked #8 in the preseason gets a giant advantage over a team ranked #45 during the season, as neither team has proved anything to that point.

I know they are popping up on several radars, but I am not buying the Ole Miss hype. Not yet, anyway. And esp not Top 10.

Hopefully they do turn out to be very good...then they can beat Florida.

They finished last season very strong, beating LSU on the road and Texas Tech in their home state.

And their schedule this year is very favorable. Their toughest road game is at Auburn, and their first four games are @Memphis, vs SE Louisiana, @SoCarolina, @Vandy. When they host Alabama in week 6 (they have a bye in there, too), that could potentially be a match-up of two top-5 teams.

All that said, I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose a head-scratcher somewhere in there, too.

That's what I love about my job: all of the traveling, because it affords me the chance to attend various sporting events.

...I think a real advantage for the Utes last year was having BYU take all of the media pressure for the conference. I would like to see TCU/Utah carry the brunt of it this season and see if the Cougars can play more relaxed...playing to win instead of playing not to lose.

You're all still clueless at the magnitude of Whit's accomplishment. Christ was right; a savior is never such in his own land. You won't see Bronco smell those heights. That's a good bet anyway. How many respected coaches never do what Whit did last year? 99.9% It was a miraculous year that's still hard for me to believe. He was no slouch before that, as 74% winning percentage and 22-1 in his last 23 games attest.

It's OU-Texas, and just be careful not to invest too much in the tickets. I'd hate for you to spend all that money just to see your boys lose.

I think you interpret me wrong. What I was saying is before last years run by not only the Utes, but the conference in general (that includes you, poke), seeing 3 teams from the MWC sniffing top 25 would be unheard of.
