I was in the MTC for the A&M game. We went to the outdoor volleyball courts during exercise time and sat on the hill trying to follow the game by the PA announcer.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostMy mom sent that game to me on my mission on VHS. I watched that every P day that I could.

Here's a column on Grantland about Taysom Hill:
http://grantland.com/the-triangle/qb...s-taysom-hill/
It describes Hill as an elite athlete, but then they describe his relatively poor passing stats cumulatively from last year. Hill was a very poor passer to start the year, then he made what appeared to be a leap in October and then he came back down in November and December, although he still looked a lot better than he did starting out the year.
So far this year Hill looks like the guy who made the leap in October last year. It's only been two games, but needless to say if a guy who runs as well as Taysom ends up with a 70% completion rate and a 3 to 1 TD to INT ratio for the entire year, then he's going to be getting some serious NFL attention.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

A 70% completion rate and 3-1 TD/Int rate would put Taysom Hill in the same company with Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow, and Sam Bradford. No pressure there...Taysom. But Sark came close to doing that in 1996 so maybe it can happen again at BYU.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostSo far this year Hill looks like the guy who made the leap in October last year. He doesn't fling the ball around as much as someone like Detmer or McMahon, a 70% completion rate is possible. Max Hall almost got there and he threw more than Hill. However the 3 to 1 TD to interception ratio is extremely unlikely.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostA 70% completion rate and 3-1 TD/Int rate would put Taysom Hill in the same company with Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow, and Sam Bradford. What? Why is 3-1 extremely unlikely? If Taysom's play continues as it has through 2 games there is no reason he can't have that or better.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostHe doesn't fling the ball around as much as someone like Detmer or McMahon, a 70% completion rate is possible. I hope he pulls it off, but I think it's a tough given how often he and the team are running the ball in for TDs. Fewer opportunities for TD passes when the team is fine pounding the ball in within the red zone.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostWhy is 3-1 extremely unlikely? Taysom Hill and Turner Gill are not very comparable. Lest I disappoint, I'll oblige you with how Hill compares against some of the best seasons of Nebraska rushing QBs:Originally posted by Flystripper View PostWhat? Nothing about Turner Gill's numbers from 1983?

Look at #3 for Texas - he's a linebacker listed at 6-1, 234. Taysom's listed at 6-2, 232. So they're virtually the same size, but Taysom just blows by him. He's essentially a linebacker with safety (or corner) speed playing quarterback. That's why he's such a weapon running the ball.Originally posted by Blueintheface View Postbump
He hits the 32 yard line and is already at ludicrous speed. Just awesome.
He looks like a little kid reaching up to block the bigger kid, but he's strong enough to make it work.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostWhat I love on that play is how Koroma completely stood up their stud NT.
I note that Taysom already has 5 rushing TD's this year.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostTaysom Hill and Turner Gill are not very comparable. Lest I disappoint, I'll oblige you with how Hill compares against some of the best seasons of Nebraska rushing QBs:

Crouch won the Heisman with those numbers. I think he also had around 1500 yards passing. This was before voters would vote for Freshmen or Sophomores. If the 2001 season was replayed today, Grossman would win.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostTaysom Hill and Turner Gill are not very comparable.
